Water pump not working Empty Water pump not working

Post by Liz n Tue May 07, 2024 4:16 pm

Hello all. Hoping someone could enlighten us.
On campsite at Seahouses. Filled up with fresh water and hooked up our 2008 Sigma. The pump symbol is flashing on and off but pump not working. We've checked the consumer unit and fuse to no avail. No sound from the pump. The pump was hot to touch so we've removed the fuse. Nothing in the handbook or Google to help?
Has anyone experienced this before?
Many thanks,

Liz

The fact that you've touched the pump makes me think it's a Shurflo or Flojet and NOT a submersible in the tank. Please confirm that.

Thanks, Paul,
Yes, it's not a submersible,

“No sound from the pump” and “hot to touch” would make me start at the pump itself in my diagnosis of the problem.

Perhaps a firm but careful tap with a hammer?

Thank you all for your help.
The firm but careful tap with a plumber's wrench has worked wonders! Pump now working again.
Wondering it this was a permanent solution or whether the pump/s needed replacing?
But at the moment, so pleased to have it going again.
The forum is worth its weight in gold!

Good!

I suspect the pump has not been used for a while, perhaps drained, in which case the rubbery bits might have stuck together. Keep using it!
