Morning folks,

7 degrees and wet but no wind.  Trip to the hospital with the boss this afternoon so hoping it doesn't get any worse.

Hope your wife is ok Dave. Main bit of the stormy weather appears to have moved on and it's a bit more calm. More on the way tomorrow with another nasty weather system heading our way for Saturday. Shopping trip for us but just to get some fresh bits and pieces, should be fun rolleyes

Take care folks

We had an almighty thunder and lightning storm last night and have just had another.
Lots of showers and wind now increasing rapidly.
Oh, and rescued one of the bins from underneath the motorhome!

Yesterday was horrible. We'd spent NYE, Christmas Day and Boxing Day with family in Sussex - first time we'd slept in van over Christmas - snug and a nice place to which to retreat at night. But yesterday we drove the 240 miles to Cardiff. It took 10 and a half hours. Shattering. M25 was choked, especially around Heathrow - which we reached after 4 hours; Almondsbury (M4 / M5 interchange) was the worst of all; one Severn bridge was closed, and the other had reduced lanes because of weather and a crash; and then the delights of the Newport tunnel.
Never again! But this time had to return on that day because of a medical appointment.
Today is blustery and dry. Empty the van and winterise again.

Happy innocents day everyone, of course it is much more than just that, it is the day the World celebrates the birth of the baby Groundhog far to the West 75 years ago! Allowed a day off today but it is still blowing and raining hard so will not be doing a lot outside! Still pretty mild though at 12 degrees.
Hope the hospital visit goes well Dave.
Have a great day all allthumbz

A brighter day if a bit chilly in the breeze. We seem to have missed most of the storm damage apart from one house with a couple of ridge tiles on the sloping bit of the roof have slid down.
You can tell Christmas is over because the appointment reminder for managements dentist check up and her Fiesta is due its service next month.
The Fiesta service can wait until MOT time in August because it had cam belt and a major service last February . The most milage its done were the three pick up and drop offs to Manchester Airport.

After two days of strong winds, we've just had the most torrential rain storm with water running straight off the sodden fields and flooding dips in the roads in several places.

Heavy squally rain showers passing over from the east.
Hope your wife is fine Dave and everyone else is doing well.

Turned a bit nasty this afternoon.  Leaving Hairmyres there was a really cold wind and that horrible light rain which soaks everything (would have said Scotch mist but it was anything but mist with the wind)

Back home and we are back to cold and wet but no wind.  Thanks for all the good wishes, she was up for an MRI so we'll know more once the results have been sent to the doctor.

We had the tail end of the storm hit us yesterday evening, heavy bursts of rain driven on blustery winds. Fairly calm this morning, dry and cool with a good view of the moon. Forecast is for it to stay mainly dry with a brisk wind but temperatures will be dropping to -7°c in some parts of Scotland tonight. There's more disruption from snow expected too. Baking day so I'm on perpetual dishwashing duties shrugg

Take care all.

A glorious sunny morning here.
That was until I emerged from a quick visit to Morrisons.
Absolutely torrential yet again, though it's now cleared enough for nuevogirl to risk hanging the washing out.
That should bring another downpour!

Sun and showers here. Just put back the one fence panel that blew down on Wednesday night but it's not in great condition (I've strengthened it as best I can) so will probably go again. Certainly getting colder though.

Very early start for the early shop, moon was out and it all seemed quiet. Bright sunny morning, even thought about getting the mower out, then the heavens opened with torrential rain. Grey and overcast ever since.
Forecast is not looking too brilliant, still it is very mild and the heating is hardly going on.
Out of interest (?) Mount Benson in Canada where the family home is, should be deep in snow now but there is none at all and the temperature has hardly dipped below freezing, strange times.

Just back from the shopping - surprisingly quiet.  Quite cold, 4 degrees but feels colder and dry and bright but the gritters are out in force so suspect some snow and ice overnight.

Take care if your out driving.

Currently 0°c with a heavy frost on the ground, temperature rising by a couple of degrees later. Unfortunately that rise will be accompanied by heavy rain which will turn to snow as it moves north. Not what those who are still without power will want to hear.

Take care folks.

Absolutely freezing.  -1 at the moment and a heavy frost is covering everything.  Don't know what the temperature went down to last night but even the house feels a bit on the cool side this morning.

Wrap up well if you're going out today.

A grotty grey damp start to the day here. It’s starting go dark at eleven in the morning. I think it’s a day for tucking into Christmas cake and chocolates. We seem to have a lot of chocolates and son has built a large cake this time. Management dosnt like fruit cake so I will be eating it until Easter at this rate.

Also grotty here, Mild at 9° but light rain all day. Just had to nip to Tesco as Lidl had no carrots or sugar yesterday (looked as if they hadn't had a delivery since before Christmas there were so many empty shelves), Tesco very busy.

Snow cleared pretty quickly yesterday after a rise in temperature followed by persistent rain. Today has started dry and cool at 4°c, should stay mainly that way but we may get some showers later. Usual Hogmanay shenanigans here today.

Happy Hogmanay to you all!
Very windy again down here, showers and some sunshine but still warm for the time of the year at 10 degrees.
Today is end of year finance day, sitting down and planning how fast the savings will go down the drain over the next few years and how soon we will be off to Millets to buy a tent to live in. I know exactly what we have spent over the past 10 years, exactly what is in reserve for upcoming costs and what is projected for the next five years. Sad I know but I really enjoy doing it, even if sometimes the results are less pleasing! scratch head
Have a great day all and enjoy tonight's celebrations. allthumbz
