Re: Weather
Pretty much same here and every day for over a week. We are off on tour again today, wet weather gear packed, just hoping we can get out and about each day if only for a little while. Managed to get in to Tewkesbury camc site at short notice, haven't managed to do that for a few years, trouble is Tewkesbury is prone to flooding and with all this rain.....

Re: Weather
Chucking it down here as well, and our newspapers are carrying stories freezing temperatures and snow before the end of this month. We’re looking getting away over the next couple of weeks but it’s kind of difficult to predict where will be the least wet and cold.

Head for Norfolk then Tony, it's still pouring down here. However did get a brief weather window to get Tag out for his Ablutions.Askit wrote:Chucking it down here as well, and our newspapers are carrying stories freezing temperatures and snow before the end of this month. Fill up before to reach the coast road, Stockton on tees, or Scarborough , weather here is wet the noo, however due to dry out later, rain again overnight.
In general it's drier on the east coast like Aberdeen and the Moray coast, just watch the forecast, carnt promise you BBQ weather, it would be nice to see you if you make it.

Re: Weather
Help ma Boab , better stay at home and take the chairs outside to the garden ....been mainly dry here last week with some heavy rain overnight ( last night) but today couple of light showers then overcast. Dont think the wee car would ford deep floods as its the size of a training shoe! Maybe bring a boat?

Re: Weather
Management needed a get away night out this weekend so after a think we took off for Helmsley Saturday morning. We managed a nice afternoon in the walled gardens followed by a pub tea. Last night as per forecast it chucked it down.
Trusting the forecast we then moved to Filey to give mutely a windswept soggy walk. As predicted it stopped raining for us to walk back for afternoon tea and cake before driving home. I am not one to trust the forecast but for once it was spot on this weekend.
From the end of this month we will be in Australia for a month and a half so I don’t think rain will be too much of a problem. Coming back to this country in December will be a bit of a shock to the system.

Re: Weather
Just back from a weekend at Wantage, nice area and mostly dry and sunny apart from a wet Saturday night. However I've never seen so many flooded fields on the way back home through the Cotswolds. Doesn't bode well if the week ahead forecast is right.

I guess we can look forward to a new option when we enquire about pitch availability over the next few weeks.
"Yes sir, would you like a pitch at the deep end or the shallow end?"

Re: Weather
This may be my last ever post, as the local weather forecast (according to the subtitles) is that we are having 70 million metres of rain over Wales tonight.
Should have swapped the motorhome for a boat by the sound of it.
So, I'll bid you farewell while I can.

Re: Weather
The forecasts are still predicting it being very unsettled for the rest of the week. We hope to be getting away for a few days next week but I'm reluctant to fix anything up right now. Wellies are on standby

When I was a youngster, starting my working career on a site near the river Clyde, some sage older men passed on their wisdom about Scottish weather.
They said, "if you can't see the Cloch lighthouse (near Gourock), it's raining, if you can see it, the rain is on its way"

Used to get some pretty rough weather on the ferry crossings there Tony, especially when the Western ferries had there wee ferrys.
Mind the days when Cal-Mac would sail out of Gourock pier to Rossie because the weather was so bad.
It's dreich here again, carnt win.

We have the same quote here but substitute the lighthouse for the surrounding hills.Askit wrote:When I was a youngster, starting my working career on a site near the river Clyde, some sage older men passed on their wisdom about Scottish weather.

I grew up on my dad's farm & he always said that if the cows are lying down in the fields it's a sign of rain to come.
I used to think if I went round getting them to stand up it would stay dry..

We had them overnight but there's a hint of dry and sunny weather now. It looks like we may get a few dry days into the new week so the bags are getting packed (mostly with thermals and waterproofs
).
