Rattle Empty Rattle

Post by Trev864 Sun Jan 10, 2021 6:52 pm

We have a 2018 Bourton (old style Mercedes cab). There is a loud rattle when you drive along which seems to be coming from behind the dashboard on the passenger side. The rattle is a loud clunking type noise and sounds as if it is something substantial in size or weight. It's not the glovebox or its contents. I have looked behind the dashboard as far as I can and everything seems to be secure. I have even reached up behind the dash with my hand and cant feel anything loose. The space seems to be mainly occupied by the heater fan assembly which doesn't move. Its not the tool kit under the floor, that has been checked Has anyone else had this by any chance and found the cause?

Have you check for loose tools in the footwell compartment?

Good suggestion Peter! Is the van not still under warranty at 2018, maybe it is nothing but if your Merc dealer is any good they may take a look for you?

Thank you for your help. It was after all the tool kit under the floor. I had checked this previously and thought it was secure enough not to rattle. However a strategically placed piece of foam underneath the bag has sorted it! Thanks again for the suggestions

We have that problem. Keep seeing if the tool kit is fixed down properly and it seems to be. Will try the foam trick.
