Nuevo EL grey waste pump
Morning all
I have a 2011 Nuevo EL
I’M currently halfway through a Spanish trip and the grey waste scavenger pump has stopped working. The fuses in the Sargent board for water pumps check ok and the wiring to the pump and waste catch tank are ok. Does anyone know if there is a seperate fuse or control for the waste pump / sensor. Tia

Be blunt now, don't know of any UK motorhome with a grey water pump? Gravity is the normal power source.
Have you found the underneath van grey drain hose. Unclip it and open the valve on the end of it....does greyish water come out?

Unfortunately it looks like the puzzle was never explained.

Re: Nuevo EL grey waste pump
In that thread I posted that I'd found another on FB , a 2013 and also an EL. So it's obviously to do with the layout - the kitchen is well away from the tank so it must be to do with the route of the drainage pipes. Unfortunately it would seem that no-one here knows anything about this and AS need to be contacted to explain.Tinwheeler wrote:And also an EL. Curiouser and curiouser.

A small holding tank was fitted under the bathrooms of some vans when they grey water tank was at the other side of the van. There is a ball valve in the tank with a pump and when the holding tank is full it pumps its contents to the grey water tank. As I recall, these were not fitted in the factory but as a 'work around' by the service centre when customers complained about poor drainage, there is therefore unlikely to be a wiring standard, just needing a permanent 12v to the pump/float switch.

Re: Nuevo EL grey waste pump
Hi all
Apologies for late reply but been traveling. Peter and Paul have it right, due to having an End Lounge the bathroom is behind the drivers seat so to transfer water to the waste tank at the rear of the chassis the water from bathroom and kitchen sink is emptied into a holding tank under the bathroom, when it reaches a certain level a sensor or float switch (not sure which) in the holding tank operates a pump just behind the rear axle in order to move the waste to the main waste tank which is higher than the bathroom holding tank. Yes all very convoluted but seemed to work ok until noticed water backing up through the shower plug hole, at this point realised the pump wasn’t kicking in so checked fuses and visible wiring (tried giving the pump a tap) but all to no avail hence the question did anyone know if there was another fuse hidden away somewhere or is there possibly an override been switched off in the Sargent control panel.

Hi Pete
It’s an EC 328, I’ve got the Sargent manual but it doesn’t list anything but I can remember a post about a Sargent system and cut off for waste pump, not sure if Theresa way into settings to look deeper

Be careful how you return and replace but check all 12v fuses on 328. I've known stuff to be teed off the fuse in toilet cassette locker.

Hi Chezer
Not sure you’ll need a spare, as you say it’s easy to get to and simple diaphragm pump so easy to repair if need to. No it’s not blocked the thing worked fine in the morning but not in the afternoon which makes me think faulty switch in catch tank or hidden fuse

Its remarkable that back in Apr/Aug last year this was a mystery to all but now so much is known about it. I wonder if A1203 is reading this?Paulmold wrote:Remember this thread? Also a Nuevo but this one a 2012......

Paul my partner use to take so much out with us pumps, solar chargers, batteries , you name it but that was with a tag Axle hobby with so much storage. He is a former sparky and says that he will have a look under the van to see where the 12 volt supply comes from ifIja wrote:Hi Chezer

he finds anything we will let you know. Safe travels Chezer.

Re: Nuevo EL grey waste pump
Hi all a very late update got back from our travels in March and didn’t bother repairing till April. Turns out the feed is off the main water pump fuse which checked out ok. Dropped the holding tank unscrewed the cover (be careful very brittle plastic I ended up reinforcing with fibreglass when refitting) and replaced the bilge pump sensor (£39.00 eBay special) all up and running. For future reference if you had wire and a switch then would have been simple to run a temporary bypass switch off the sensor but just as easy to drop the hose off and use a bucket.
