Recommendations of outside chairs
Hi
We are currently using some very traditional and quite old deck-chairs when we eat outside or simply relax. My wife is keen to have some bigger and more comfortable/potentially reclining seats but every time we see one which looks good, it won't fit through the single external hatch.
Interested if any other owners had some recommendations. I've even got to thinking if something inflatable may just be the answer!

Re: Recommendations of outside chairs
We chose badly when faced with this dilemma. If buying again I would chose a framed chair rather than one with legs which sink into anything less than hard packed ground. Good luck.

Re: Recommendations of outside chairs
The only chairs that fit through our external hatch are the collapsible camping type shown in our avatar. However, our preference is to take a pair of Dometic folding reclining chairs in a Dometic bag stored in the shower or on the back of the van in-lieu of a bike. We don't bother with outside chairs during the winter months.

Re: Recommendations of outside chairs
The chairs we had for years were bought from Lidl middle isle . They are the type that fold into a long bag. They don’t have the rail across the front that digs into your legs and have a cup holder in the arm.
The pivot on one snapped being replaced with a bolt recently so when Magnum Motorhomes were having a sale earlier this year we bought two new ones. They are a bit heavier with a bit more padding and folding into the bag that fits under the back seats in the Rienza.

We have these, fold into long bag but higher seat than previous ones meaning you can sit at outside table.

Our solution
Top pic, Warwick duo mods but chairs there to confirm fit.
Lower pic, chairs in use, now stored in loft above cab

Re: Recommendations of outside chairs
Thanks Ian they are the ones I meant but not as posh as Pauls. Last trip management pointed out that the cup holders in the new ones are insulated so thats maybe why they coast more than the Lidl ones.
It may seem silly but try them first and see them folded up. I saw the ones in Lidl because my mate was sat on one. He then asked his wife to carry one round the store to see how much they weighed. The staff at our local Lidle must have wondered what was going on. Saying that they sold at least six chairs that day.

Reclining Garden Chair / Zero Gravity Chair Rsxa Seigle Ii Lafuma Mobilier - We've just retired our 15 year old Lafuma recliners to the summerhouse and bought a new pair exactly the same for the van. Not cheap but the best and used by many friends.
They travelled in the Luton of the Inca and Wilton then under the fixed bed via the external hatch on the Malvern. In the Broadway one travels behind each of the cab seats (perfect fit) and on site the front passenger seat is rotated and the chairs are stored between that and the dash when not in use outside.

For most trips away we carry a pair of DUKDALF chairs, the best reclining chaisr we have found. They are on Amozon.

Re: Recommendations of outside chairs
I wanted a sturdy, aluminium chair (minimum weight compatible with strong build) which would fit via the external locker door on the Nuevo. (Probably the same size door as on other models). I chose the Lafuma Victoria eight years ago, and they are excellent. They fit through the hatch with about 2mm clearance, provided they are stowed with the feet facing the rear of the van, and with the arms of the chair down, each chair stored the same way on top of each other. I recommend them without reservation.

WE also carry a pair of these small Lafuma chairs for dining or other table work [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] They are very small and light and are stored with the recliners behind the cab seats.

Re: Recommendations of outside chairs
A bit more detail. Our Dometic chairs are the "Quattro Milano". They come in a variety of colours. They are the most comfortable chair we have had yet; over the years we have accumulated quite a few. They are padded and have a high reclining back and moveable head cushion. They work sitting up at a table and reclined for a serious snooze (my wife is 5' 3.5" and I'm 6' 2.5"). They fold flat and easily stack in a Dometic XL Relaxer Carry Bag. Dometic claim they are weather proof and dry quickly but we haven't put this to the test. Before buying a chair I suggest you try out as many as you can in shops and shows as what suits one may not suit another.Caraman wrote:The only chairs that fit through our external hatch are the collapsible camping type shown in our avatar. At less than £40, a great chair that has a bar across legs to stop you sinking on soft grass etc. Folds to a convenient size.

Re: Recommendations of outside chairs
We use these chairs from Gelert, they fold in to a zipped carry case and I am able to stow 2 side by side under a rear seat, very strong and comfortable, we bought this type as the arm rest aid my wife who has MS greatly getting up and out of them, they have big feet pads to stop sinking in the grass and no damage to the outdoor mats

Re: Recommendations of outside chairs
In the 1970's we bought a Lafuma camping table and 4 "Lafuma camping armchairs" which are still in use. The chairs fold up neatly and we sometimes take them instead of recliners.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I need to do some more research and visit some more camping equipment shops.
