Can those of you who have, like us, this pointless wonderful feature tell me if your blind fits flush with the top of unit when closed? The reason I ask is, after 8 years of use, the huge (1/2 cm) gap ours leaves and the light that leaks in the morning, is really annoying me.

Ps, yes I've tried to fix it and I can resolve the problem with a strip of foam draught excluder shrugg .

Do you mean the roof light above the cab?  If so, ours didn't shut properly when we bought the van.  The dealer had to remove it to adjust the strings and it's been OK since.   If it's the same as ours, the blind is held in place with 6 screws.  To access the screw the tiny plastic centre part has to be removed which is fiddly to do.

Thanks Caraman, After a quick look, I've decided that anything technical to do with blinds is way above my pay grade. I did wonder if there was something missing from ours causing the gap but a short piece of draught excluder will be my fix.

I wonder if your quick fix lasted.

Been there done that. A year, maybe more ago the gap on the right side of my Nuevo Blind got a bit larger, easily cured, as we were in Spain, using a strip of draught excluder from a China Shop some of which sell an enormous range of good quality products. Since then the gap gradually increased and it took more effort to pull the fly screen to the top on that side. Recently the cord on that side gave way due to the extra strain no doubt.

As Caraman has been told the repair job is not the easiest mainly due to the push in screw covers on the fixings which resisted prising out and the narrow access to them at the bottom. There is not much information on the web, mainly stories of Dealers and Manufacturers who can't be * Inappropriate Word * with the job and quote £1000 to fit a complete new vent, and Dometic lack of information and its said that spares are Dealer only supply.

I was not going to pay £1000 for a bit busted string so I got on with the job. The cord was not broken it had pulled through the single brass screw terminal with the strain of being out of kilter. Yes a single little screw terminal like a sawn off bit of choc bloc (without the plastic). I doubt the wisdom of using a screw terminal to clamp two nylon cords under strain. There is a belt and braces strip of sticky back paper which hold the cord ends too, or is that merely to facilitate adjustment. Anyway the cord had pulled out from under that as well.

So I think if the blind goes out of kilter it would be wise to take it off and sort it out at home when the van is not in use rather than carrying on to use it under strain.
Whilst its out you can replace the bits of Velcro Fluff on the ends of the blind runners, another bit of high tech design, mine on the sagging side was torn to shreds, and clean out the dust and dead flies too.

I don't know if there has been a write up on the forum, if anyone needs some details including how I tackled the fixings cover caps I will have photos.
