Bike Rack fitting
I want to fit a bike rack or a tow bar to my 2009 Northants. I want to carry two electric bikes with a combine weight of approx 40kgs. Just been quoted a silly price so looking to get other quotes. Any suggestions for companies in the south of Englnd

Mmm, it sounds a hefty lump to hang on the back wall. Plus the weight of the rack.

Re: Bike Rack fitting
Then you'll have a towbar, 20Kg, towbar rack, must be 20kg, then the bikes, are you sure they really weigh 40kg?. So a potential total of 80Kg way aft of rear axle and also off your payload....

Re: Bike Rack fitting
I have a fiamma bike rack( fittings fitted. on the rear by factory ) max load is 60 kg , two bikes at approx 24 kg each no problem . also have a Thule towbar mounted rack which is much better to secure the bikes , Thule has rachet levers to tighten the wheels and also has rear lights and number plate ready fitted . the fiamma rack needs a lighting board fitted as it covers the view of the numberplate .

Re: Bike Rack fitting
Took this pic in Bilbao recently. The OP isn't suggesting anything as crazy as this but take a look...
It has a garage, garages are imho always full!
Then it has the rack, that's a 125cc scooter and 2 bikes under that cover!
Then look at the distance of the bike rack centre point from the rear axle..... I was surprised the front wheels were actually on the ground!
