Wind out awning ripped
Awning has ripped approx 10 inches at the end from the frame at the front. Wasn't even windy which is so annoying.
Can these be repaired and any advice please on wind out awnings and wind as it's first time we've used it.
Thanks.

Can’t help with the repair but on the subject of wind, I would never leave the Motorhome unattended without fitting the storm straps, particularly on the Continent where the weather can change very quickly. The straps hook into the canopy front rail close to the outer legs.
Turned up at a site we use in southern France and the night before there had been a sudden storm. Most of the canopies were wrapped around the vans and several awnings destroyed.

Re: Wind out awning ripped
My awning ripped in the same place along the front edge, light wind at the time. In my case, storm straps would have make no difference.
Actually managed to get it replaced, at 2 years old FOC! Took some effort, but due to light wind.

PS. I used some stick on awning tape, supplied by my dealer until the repair was done.

Saw that happen in Brantome, came up with no warning, trees down, awnings over vans, windbreaks gone and one poor Dutch family had a tree fall and cut their Caravan in half, lucky they were down the town having lunch.BornAgain wrote:Can’t help with the repair but on the subject of wind, I would never leave the Motorhome unattended without fitting the storm straps, particularly on the Continent where the weather can change very quickly. Re: Wind out awning ripped
Can't advise on the repair but one of the problems with wind out awnings is that the spring rafters don't fully tension the fabric which is then prone to flap / flog in the slightest wind. Tension rafters can be bought which greatly improve the situation.
