Using the correct word Empty Using the correct word

Post by tcarne Sun Jul 22, 2012 7:46 pm

What is all this birthing about?

I've been through two and am blessed with a wonderful son and daughter!

Surely one is talking about a 2 berth or a 4 berth van?

This was not only seen on this forum today, but also in an advert in my local rag this week.

Also, there was someone hoping for piece of mind!

Well, here's a piece of mine - surely one is talking about peace of mind!

It has been such a beautiful day here in sunny Devon and I really don't want to have to grumble!

Yup! it gets my teeth on edge too! Especially for people of our age who have had a decent education.
In the old days it was considered bad form to criticise typos & bad spelling / grammer on t'internet as it was not always possible to check your input before sending. There's little or no excuse now though.

Haven't you noticed that phrase has been dropped in favour of ''climate change'' . Maybe someone's noticed it isn't getting any warmer.

Hmm, interesting that, 'pouring down' here in Glencoe, or is it 'pouring', down here in Glencoe!!

Strange how we use the 'north-up' when describing, as in Scotland, we are 'going down' to London, In London, we are 'going up' to Scotland,

& if in Wales, we are 'nipping across' to east anglia & Vice-versa. Its a funny old world hugegrins

Pouring down here in Glencoe, apologies for the omission of the comma.
Whether it is still pouring down is another matter which I cannot comment on as I am now back home down here in Preston smile!
