Bourton Alarm ? Empty Bourton Alarm ?

Post by phil1855 Wed Jan 26, 2022 9:57 am

Hi Guys,
Daft question , but does the 2017/18 Bourton have an alarm?
I know it comes with a Trackstar Tracker, but no one has mentioned an alarm.
Certainly can't find one.  scratch head

Alarms are not fitted as standard, probably due to the choices available.

Hi,
 Cheers,
Just sorting out insurance, so thought I would make sure, anyone got experience of Trackstar Trackers?
Apparently £168 per year subscription,

I’m assuming you have the same tracker as me with a 2018 van.
I’m pretty happy with mine, I renewed after the first free year then took out a 3 year renewal last year. Discounts are easily achieved if you ring them up so don’t pay the renewal price.
My insurance requires an alarm or a tracker but I would probably renew even if it wasn’t a requirement.

The only type of alarm that can be fitted to a motorhome is a vehicle alarm.  Sargent don't make vehicle alarms which is a reason A-S don't supply their motorhomes with one.

Cheers,
that sounds logical as Sargent appears everywhere in the van.

The Sprinter chassis cab comes with alarmed front doors as you will find out when early in the morning you open a door from the inside that had been locked via the keyfob!!!

If you want habitation door, locker doors alarmed and motion detector then an aftermarket alarm is required. Many such alarms can be integrated with the Merc system so an additional fob is not required.

Well Peter,
You are the first person to get it right, people have been saying there is no alarm, including the dealer however...as you suggested opened the cab doors after being locked with the key fob....success.   allthumbz

So, the cab doors are alarmed but the habitation door is not. What do members do to beef up the security on that door, particularly at night, just to give a bit more reassurance, and don't suggest a machete under the bed !!!! as I already have one! (only joking)  innocent

I agree - there isn't much point in having alarm sensors on the cab doors if there are no sensors on the habitation and external hatch doors.  The bonnet should also have a sensor.  My Peugeot based A-S motorhome has an after-market vehicle alarm with all of the aforementioned sensors and internal acoustic sensors.
