Unwelcome anniversary

It seems like broadcasters think there are some of us who have been in a coma, have been on the space station or incommunicado on a deep sea submarine mission for the past year. As we (as every programme is reminding us) are hitting the year mark since the first lockdown started, why do they think I want to know how, or in which way others have managed the process (especially celebs ). If I hear another "how has it been for you" asked, by a usually half interested interviewer, I will scream (actually I won't because I can't, but I will open my mouth and pretend )

It's one of the curses of 24 hour TV and hundreds of channels. They have to fill up all that airtime with something and it's usually puerile. Before the explosion in airtime they had to be highly selective about what went on the airwaves and that usually meant high quality. Now, a similar amount of funding, allowing for inflation, gets spread over hundreds of TV stations and thousands more employees. The result is lower standards and a paucity of good product. 

We're very, very selective about what we watch, never take a TV away in a van and v v rarely watch any TV news at home and no TV at all before 6pm or so. Even then 50% of my evenings are spent in front of the computer, not the TV screen.

We went into box sets meltdown last year, we watch our local news and weather and try and avoid all the crap I'm paying a TV license for, some good stuff on SKY though.
