Extortionate 1st service quote

Main dealer hourly labour rates are the problem. My local VW main dealer now charges £115 per hour + vat. compared with my local mechanic rate of £45 per hour.

Hi Paul. Cannot be just that as we are comparing main dealers of other makes as well.
It seems from this thread that some dealers think they are servicing a Ferrari.

Does he do the roof?

My local Mercedes car garage do a wash and vacuum including the roof  foc.

Just as well, rooflight seals and pressure washer don't mix very well.

I used to have to tell our Peugeot dealer NOT to let his lads wash the van as the one time they did, it came out dirtier than when it went in!

We also now use local independents - apart from once being robbed by the Peugeot dealer for replacement brake pipes, the last time I let them service the van they left the oil filter loose.
