Schrader valve Empty Schrader valve

Post by Lee Mon May 25, 2015 7:54 am

Hi All, Whilst on site the other day, I noticed a pretty discrete schrader valve located just alongside the waste empty outlet. Anyone tell me what it's for? Should I be pumping air into it for some reason?

If the same as mine it is an extension from the spare wheel allowing you to check and top up the pressure without crawling underneath. up!

They are a good idea.  Bought one for last van and moved it on to the Windsor when we bought it. Saves a lot of messing about under the van to check spare wheel pressure and inflating.

I cant remember the name (had it around 14 years) but mine was made not too far from here and was a reasonable price

edit:  just remembered  its a "Spareline"

Bought one similar to this:

So much easier to check the spare wheel pressure.

I have one on my Broadway, but I can't get it to work. The pressure hose won't latch onto the valve; it doesn't seem to be long enough. Also I can't get a proper tyre pressure meter reading. Is there a knack to it?

I had exactly the same problem on my Lancashire.

I solved it by removing the washer that sits behind the nut that holds the valve in place on the skirt.  I cannot remember whether i removed or relocated the washer to the other side of the skirt.  Try it - then enough of the thread sticks out for the pin on the inflator to push down the end of the Schrader valve.

It's possible someone has fitted airbags to the van and linked them to a single Schraeder valve. I did this on my previous van

Yep, it is indeed the spare tyre extension, thanks to all for your input.
