Nuevo ES to buy or not to buy Empty Nuevo ES to buy or not to buy

Post by johnandeva Wed Feb 26, 2014 10:26 pm

Hi Paul and other nuevo owners, am thinking of swapping my symbol for a nuevo ES I like the layout of them and that they are pretty well the same size, do you find they are a problem to park in standard car parks, will have to part-ex our Bessie and make up the shortfall, sad to see her go she is a great little van, will start to look around reputable dealers to see what's about, cheers for now, johnandeva,

Hi John
Not sure what age of van your looking to grade up to ? However we did the same some years back from a 59 symbol to a 09 Nuevo EK es.
We did miss the large bench seat and under locker storage, but there's plenty of storage in the Nuevo.
Parking is just fine, I tend to find a slot  where I can reverse the over hang over the kerb or over a grassed area.
I haven't had any problems with parking the Nuevo, we have shopped at dozens of large stores all over the country.
Hope you get a good deal.

I echo what Boaby says, plenty of storage above the cab, lots of overhead lockers. A washroom that I can turn around in. Parking no more difficult than your Symbol, I also try to put the overhang over a kerb of grass verge. Height barriers problems are the same. Interior so much more spacious than our Symphony.
Doesn't seem to be many Nuevos in dealers at the moment. Cotswold where we got ours from have a low profile 04 and they are not too far from you (and a lot closer than from us). Marquis list an 03 ES but I don't know which branch has it. Autotrader has only a couple of ES listed and all a long way from you. Good hunting!

Johnanddeva

We've had a Nuevo ES in the past, its a great size van, very tardis like for such a short length. The last models on the previous base vehicles, (like the one Paul is pointing to on the above post on an 06 plate), are a great second hand buy and very popular. You will find it very similar to drive to your symbol, but with so much more space.
Good luck with your search.

Regards
John

We have a Nuevo Classic EK ( previous Duetto ) and have had no problems parking anywhere. Would agree with above posts - after a Duetto it is Tardis like. Loads of storage space and the outside locker is a real bonus.

We have a 09 plated ES but it was probably built 2006 onwards. We are extremely pleased with it. It's worth researching what changes from year to year to get exactly what you want as things aren't always altered for the better. Although in the end it might depend on condition, availability and the deal being offered on your present van.

Hope you get a good one - Fred

Nuevo ES to buy or not to buy Empty Nuevo ES

Post by TheLees Mon Mar 03, 2014 10:47 am

Thanks for your tip off Paul.
We went to view the Nuevo ES at Nottingham on Saturday. Over the last two months we've viewed 3 Nuevo ES and they've all been in really poor condition. The one at Nottingham was gorgeous it had been really well looked after, we agreed the price there and then and are looking forward to collecting it next week as its really close to where we live. We used to have a Swift Mondial loved it cos its so convenient for parking, sold it in January  and have been desperate to get a Nuevo as the good ones disappear quick. Hubby is already planning where mountain bikes, hiking gear and kayak are going, never mind me and where my clothes are going!
Thank - you.

Interesting to see pics of the Lees new purchase which are still on the web- I hope it gives them years of enjoyment.

Comparing the pics with my own slightly later model I see that

The cab, chassis and probably engine is the earlier model

The toilet compartment is not the 'swing out' wall design - it's got a window which I like

The habitation door is different and lots of other minor 'cosmetic' differences, the one I like best is the lighter upholstery

It's a pity there is no yearly AS brochures online - is there ? It would be good to compare models from year to year, recognizing of course that AS bought chassis, built them and then dealers sold them in periods that do not correspond to year of first registration.

Pictures of mine were still on dealers website until last week showing different upholstery fabric. On later models the under-sink doors/drawer arrangement is different as is having a drawer under wardrobe, we don't have a single drawer anywhere in the van. The website has changed as of today so you can no longer see the difference. (I was about to put link to it but found it gone)
The dealer has also changed name from Cotswold Motor Caravans to Cotswold Motorhomes.

In terms of 2nd hand values, are the Nuevo and Symbol similar.

Sadly, the Nuevo is more expensive, but then it is younger and has done half the miles.

When looking for Nuevo's dont ignore the Lancashire which dependant on age could have extras the Nuevo hasn't got.
Where parking space is precious the Nuevo Classic scores being just a bit narrower than the Mk2s and later.
There are also the Orian Zeta different colour on outside!!  and the Eton (similar van but on a Mk7 Transit Chassis)

Nuevo ES to buy or not to buy Empty Thanks

Post by zebede4500 Sat Sep 06, 2014 4:42 pm

Thanks for the advice and help.
The deed is now done and we pick up the next in our line of Autosleepers in a couple of weeks, just before a planed week in Devon.
My wife kept telling me that size was important  ! So we have gone for a mark one Nuevo that will still, hopefully, fit on the drive !
Now planning all the extras and a visit to the Shepton Mallet Show looking for all those little bits and pieces to make a van a home.
