mould on pull across skylight mesh roller net
We have discovered black spot mould on two of our rooflight 'pull across' net screens. So some dumb newbie questions
1. can we remove these pull across mesh rollers easily without having to disassemble the kitchen and bathroom skylights?
2. any cleaning tips to get rid of the mould?
Any tips/advice gratefully welcomed as always
TIA

I’ve always found scrubbing at them with an old toothbrush shifts the spots. Use mould remover or diluted Milton if necessary but be careful where the drips go.

Dry dabbing with wet-wipes.

I’ve not done it on overhead screens, only on vertical window screens but, no, I’d not attempt removal.Plymouthwelshboy wrote:thanks tinwheeler - that was where we were heading in our thinking - I take it you didnt remove your rollers?

If they are mpk rooflights then removal is easy and replacements available from caravan accessory shops. No idea of other brands of rooflight though.Tinwheeler wrote:

Re: mould on pull across skylight mesh roller net
After a suggestion by Tinwheeler we used diluted Milton to remove mould spots on the insect screen on our van, it was very effective. The side window ones were relatively easy using a sponge both inside and out, then drying with kitchen towel. The roof ones were a little more difficult but with one of us holding the screen (unhooked from the runner) down we were able to get them clean.

Use the same method as TW, with the roof ones you should be able to wiggle the mesh down and hold it so it doesn't retract with a couple of clothes pegs. Makes life easier to get to both sides.
If you want to replace the mesh it is cheap to buy.
