Hi wondering if someone can help I have two 12v/10a sockets on my van which I want to use , I did buy a adapter to fit in but seems to be a bit short think this was called Hella fitting or something this was to short. My  socket looks to be about  40 -45 mm deep. Din plug comes up while researching but just not sure. Or would it be easier just to remove old socket and replace it with a modern one .thanks Adrian

Google 12v planet

This site is where you go for virtually anything van electrics.

Here is just an example of what you may need. The sockets in your van may be cigar lighter type, they have plugs which fit these too...

Whilst on the subject for your lighting needs, you need to google ATEN lighting!

Cheers they don't do the male connections anymore the one in the photo I bought previously but is to short for it to connect into the socket.  Is it just easier for me to replace the two old sockets  for a more modern type with a USB ,would that work,  thanks

Our 97 clubman has the same. I did buy a plug, a Hella Din ISO 1465, and it would fit, but to be honest I have never even put a wire in it. Couldn't think what to use it for!

I wonder if something like this would be handy?

Yes that works as either a simple 12v plug in a 12v socket, or with the red bit in a cigar lighter

This be the one I bought, from vehicle wiring products, about 18 months ago. Fits fine...(tested it last night with the volt meter)

If the socket doesn't have power could that be as simple as a fuse?

An update...

This arrived this morning. Seems solid in construction, and fits the socket well, and, importantly, works.

As Paul says, the other socket may well just be a fuse. Where is it? Does it work with the ignition on?

Yes that works on the control panel , yet to look at the other one on  dashboard but cigarette holder works with ignition off but I presume that could be off main battery.
