A cheap theft/break-in deterrent.

Bought from a charity shop yesterday for the princely sum of £1.
Using coloured random LEDs it simulates an operating TV. It can be set to come on at dusk and stay on for varying times and uses very little power.
I placed it on the van floor last night on the drive, and it's very realistic, next door took their dog for a walk and was convinced I was in the van watching TV in the early hours..
It'll give a little more peace of mind when we're away from the van when the nights start closing in..

I wonder if a neighbour opposite who has since moved to a different address in the UK, used to have a similar device set up when they went on holiday to their property in Spain. There's something rather artificial about the flashing effects they produce. The effect would tell me they are currently in Spain. You know your neighbours are away for some time, rich pickings available there.

Here we have a great big van that when we are away isn't parked on our driveway. This is a much louder message.

You may be right if it's a neighbour who sees the effect every night, I'm just thinking about a passing opportunist. No doubt my dog walking neighbour won't be taken in again.
I'd be using it in the van, not the house.
