Been told the wheel bolts for my alloy wheels on my Burford will not fit the spare steel wheel, anyone know what bolts I need to fit for the spare steel wheel, would like to find dimensions so I can get the from motor factors not Mercedes .TIA.

There should be a set of short bolts in the jack/tool kit roll under the passenger foot boards. The MB part no for the bolts is A000 990 24 07.

Your spare wheel should be an alloy - unless MB supplied a different chassis to my 2014 Malvern!! So no need for any alternative bolts.

Yours would appear to be the odd one out from that series of chassis supplied by MB or it has been swapped at some point in the past! Particularly if you do not have the a spare set of the special steel bolts in the tool kit as described by Peter L above.

I have a Peugeot with alloys but a steel spare. I do have some special bolts to fasten the alloy wheel into the spare cradle (3 of them and a plate) but as far as I am aware the steel spare is held on the hub with the same bots as the alloys. Are the Merc steel wheel bolts shorter or a fifferen profile on the changed?

Thanks I already have 4 of these bolts with my E class, anyone that has a Mercedes Car with locking wheel bolts will have 4 spare bolts in the box with the key ,I have acquired 2 more bolts from a friend so I have a full set.
Point of interest is the shorter bolts have a 17mm Hex and the longer bolts have a 19mm Hex so 2 socket need to be carried.

The OEM short bolts from MB for the Sprinter are 19mm hex head. I suppose if the length and thread size are the same the smaller head shouldn't matter provided they are the same material grade. Sprinter bolts are 10.9 grade. MB car with lower torque could be 8.8 grade.

You are aware that the torque for the steel wheel bolts is higher than for the alloy wheels? Steel wheel -240nm, alloy wheel -180nm. MB car torques  are typically 120nm-130nm.

Personally I would source the correct bolts.

Old thread but pertinent to my question.....I have a steel spare wheel and alloy wheels in use...
I haven’t got any bolts specifically for my spare in the tool kit!! But I’ve seen references to an adapter plate in recent posts...

Does the Peugeot boxer and alko base need special bolts for the steel spare??

As this element of the thread has now drifted to a vital bit of info relevant to a Peugeot owner should this not be under its own title?
Otherwise future searches will not find the answer as the post is titled Mercedes!

Start a thread with Peugeot/Fiat in the title and I'll post the same article link.
