Annoying "new" phrases or words.............
SUB ZERO when the weather girl is talking about -1 degrees
A case of covering their bums as they don't know what's going to happen. Said in a certain voice which makes us all panic into putting our best duvet covers on car windscreens, turn the heating up to max and get hot water bottles in our beds to warm them up.............Diane Oxbridge (BBC Northwest), a lovely lady, is very very good at sending us into mass hysteria by uttering those words

"Safety cameras"........ No they are not. They are speed cameras designed to catch speeding motorists

Already moaned about clouds "bubbling up" - but they still use it.
On Look North by the time the weather presenter has finished having his/her little joke with the main presenter there is hardly time for a Weather Forecast!
After this "comedy slot", where they exchange insults and laugh at each others jokes, the weather presenter tells everyone what the weather has been (as if we don't already know!) and then gallops through the rest of the presentation so fast that to note the Sea-State and the times for Tides, Sunrise and Sunset requires the ability to speed read to Olympic standards. Grrrrrrr!!
Best regards,

I actually find the weather on Channel 5 to be the most useful.
If it were not for the presenters advice, I would go out in the rain without a brolly, go out into the midday sun without sunscreen and not even think about my 'winter woolies' when it's freezing.
So don't knock it you lot!!

Nowt to do with the scantily or provocatively dressed presenters giving the weather forecasts willing you to believe their every word.................dressed like that if they said we all should be naked apart from a lizard skin loin cloth we would believe them and be shocked when we all look like complete numpties when engulfed in a snow storm....................... I've watched "Channel 5 weather" and corrrr!!!!!

BBC South Today young lady weather presenter 'annoyingly' use the following :-
"Spit n' spots" (a strange new measurement for rain ??)
"South of the M4 Corridoor" (a modern type of defensive man made feature??)
"A cloudy affair today"
or
"A windy affair today" (interpretation of this? - the mind boggles )

Re: Annoying "new" phrases or words.............
That reminds me of that now famous minute of a US morning program where the male forecaster told the pretty female newsreader that 6" of snow was definitely going to fall that night, but it didn't happen, & the next morning, the young lady in question blurted out, 'Hey Bill, where's that six inches you promised me last night'.
The studio camera, then panned around to reveal the entire crew falling about & the young lady trying to crawl under the table

POLITICIAN SPEEK !!
"We are working very hard on this problem - so that it never happens again
The times this has been quoted, this must be No 1 answer in their 'answer instruction textbook'
also - Vince Cable 10 minutes ago (post budget statement)
"I am afraid we would be very very wrong to predict anything positive concerning the economy"
(Thanks very much for that expert knowledge Vince!!)

"The conditions are favourable for the development of precipitation" ...... sounds so much smarter than......."It's going to rain"

I think the 'medical' definition of that condition is "Cloth Ears"!
It somehow seems to affect polititians more than others!

Why do teenagers need to use the word 'Like' 53 times in every sentance? Or does it just seem like that? I blame the Americans....

The one I hate is the phrase D'You Know What I Mean? After every sentence, are these kids still going to talk in this silly pretend black gangster type language in their senior years I wonder?

Management speak
"I'll take that on board and come back to you about it" meaning in five minutes it will be forgotten about.
"Efficiency programme" you're going to be made redundant.
I really dislike the term "Gobsmacked" what happened to good old Flabbergasted or Dumbstruck, where would Frankie Howard have been without his Gast being Flabbered.
"Hiyaaa" why not Hello.
"That's cool" why has the temperature dropped ???
I really am becoming the proverbial "Miserable old " it's frightening when you look in the mirror and see your father looking back at you.

"Think on your feet"
"Do blocking and tackling"
"Effect right sizing"
"Reach out man"
"Incremental improvement"
Use your 'A' game"
"Take it to the next level"
"Client engagement"
"Give me a heads up"
"Take it offline"
"Dedication to synergy"
(Thats enough for now )

I was told to "right size" my department once. Why didn't they just say sack a few people to reduce costs?
