Ecu failure
Sorry if this has been posted before but my ECU for my Mercedes 2019 burford failed after water got into the unit. It runs down from the windscreen down the cables and shorts the ECU. This means the van cannot start and will cost hundreds to fix. Mercedes have got a “glove” that’s supposed to help stop such a thing happening but haven’t made it a recall. Since they know about the issue I think it’s disgraceful they don’t fix it. If it fails miles from nowhere you’re stuffed. I think they changed the position of the unit from 2020 onwards but not sure. I’d check that out first as a matter of urgency

Re: Ecu failure
Feel your pain, it doesn’t seem to matter who the manufacturer is these modern vehicles all seem to have their issues, they’ve become too complicated which means when they go wrong they cost a flippin fortune to get fixed, that’s if you can find anyone competent enough or even interested in fixing them, main dealers are notorious for throwing parts at vehicles and running up big bills, in my experience they are shockingly clueless.

Re: Ecu failure
Thanks to those that replied to my woes! I got the ECU replaced and got the Mercedes boot fitted but once home did my own tweak which meant releasing the cable ties and getting the cable into the unit more below and vertical to prevent any water coming down it. There is also another control unit adjacent and i did that to it also. As a preventative future solution I also wrapped baby nappy around cables. Anyone with babies know these are highly water absorbent and should provide some reassurance for the future!!

Re: Ecu failure
As far as im aware, and i did try to get Mercedes to pay for it, they see it as a warranty issue only. In my opinion, this is a failure of design, which has been subject to recall in other design issues. The fact that they have manufactured a cover for it and redesigned future vans, confirms my thoughts

ECU Failure
Hi
I am confused did you have to pay for ECU replacement or did they do it free of charge due to poor location of the unit
Regards
