Permanent 12v dc supply
Hi all,
Our 2018 Broadway I am going to replace our rear view camera system and want the new wireless system to be fed by a permanent (switchable) 12v supply.
Has anyone done this and if so where did you pick the supply up from?
I do not want to use the existing reverse light pickup but may use some of the existing wiring to feed a supply to the back panel (disconnecting the existing wireless transmitter etc).
I was thinking of running a supply up the rear wardrobe /drawer unit.

Be an idea to introduce yourself first, see how in box above.
Then go to members factsheets, then Executive, a new project, then dig around in page 2. All be done before! Btw, the consensus here is wireless cameras are generally a waste of time, see how my two are done.....

You must have registered under a new name as your profile says you joined in June 2022 and these 2 posts are the only posts you've put on. Can you remember your previous name?

Not really as long as you only post as just one of your names from now on. You actually joined back in 2012 and posted until 2021 so don't know why you didn't continue under that name unless you couldn't remember your password. If that's the case then just continue as Abe but don't use both.abe wrote:yes, it was Old Lad,

I rewired my reversing camera (part of the Garmin / Avtex satnav) to be powered by the tail lights.
When I turn on the headlights on the van, the camera kicks in. This allows me to use it as a rear view mirror while driving forwards whenever I choose. Very handy for making sure the trailer is still attached while I'm on the M6

I’ve got a Garmin 1090 with the wireless reversing camera and can say that it is useless! The signal to the head unit is too weak to provide a reliable image. Garmin use cable plugs and sockets that are impossible to extend that would enable the transmitter to be be repositioned to fix the problem. Stick with wired if you can.
