New MH Empty New MH

Post by RalphHughes Wed Jan 11, 2023 2:24 pm

After many happy years in our 1996 clubman we have decided to upgrade to something with a bit more Oomph!

We have put a deposit on a 2008 Nuevo EK whilst our Clubman gets sold, (it's on here and Autotrader, cheaper on here!)

Does any one have any warnings or things I should look out for on the Nuevo

Many thanks

The obvious is that the Nuevo is not a monocoque like your Clubman so is more susceptible to damp, so make sure thet give you a damp report.

Yes, they have offered that as part of the package, I also have a damp meter from my caravanning days
Just wondered if there were any do's and don'ts in relation to the Nuevo in particular

Leaks from service fitting ie toilet fill, barbecue out put ,hook up cable etc
Cracks in hab windows
Crank up skylight lifting n locking  mechanism easily brake , new skylight very difficult to sauce,
Dash board warning light faults , air bag warning lights staying on ,
If fitted condition of underslung  gas tank and fitting straps .

Check the standard of the paintwork on the cab, particularly the bonnet. Our 2007 Nuevo has paint peeling off the bonnet and around the windscreen. I'm told it was a problem with some  Boxers produced in 2007 and I've seen others with the same issue. Yours should be OK but if it's early 2008 I suppose it could be a 2007 chassis.

The poor paint problem was still evident  to 2011, mine is 2010 , paint peeling along roof seams and rear door but as Nuevo is coachbuilt the problem should only affect cab area.

We had a very expensive problem with our Nuevo of the same age, we had a puncture on a very dangerous road so called a mobile tyre service.
They arrived promptly and changed the wheel for the spare and told me they wouldn't fit the punctured wheel back in the underslung cradle as I would need it to hand to get it repaired.
It turned out that when the puncture was repaired the tyre fitters couldn't get the cradle to retract as the mobile guys had used power tools to operate it and had destroyed the mechanism, the replacement winding-box cost us about fifty pounds or so.
Only use the manual tools to lower the cradle and never let power tools anywhere near it.

We also had the same issue. It cost us a couple of hundred to get it changed as I had to get the garage to change it. The worm drive in the spare wheel carrier is only made of a hard plastic!

Thanks all
Useful info
I generally now carry a tyre inflation system the same as in my Outlander PHEV as a back up
Not had to use it on the MH yet but it does work on ther car
