Price to replace reversing camera.

2014 Broadway EK. Our camera (or monitor) has failed so I emailed the company I purchased it from with the symptoms asking for their expert opinion.
They came back almost immediately saying "It looks like the system has failed and you require new one. 

Cost of new unit fitted will be £999 inc. VAT"
I guessed it would be expensive but this shocked me. I told them I will do without.

That is ABSURD! If you are a competent DIYer you can buy a top of the market kit for around £200 that will far outperform the rubbish that was fitted in 2014!  At least that was my experience.

replaced my next to useless camera on a brand new Nuevo with a twin lens set up (I can now see the back of the van when reversing)

cost including the camera and fitting was £400.00

My set up £80 incl P&P Works perfectly and gives me either rear view or close in for parking with the guide lines too.

Thanks Pete,

I believe that your MH being newer than mine already has a hole in the wall behind the camera! Mine doesn't so I would have to cut a hole in the wall inside the van to get to the nut. The missus is worried that I leave a mess if I attempt it myself. Did you do it yourself? What camera did you get?

Hi no, I didn't fit it or actually choose it but I did ask for the one with the higher rated lens.

trouble is, they all look the same but some ccds(I think) are different TVS in Brent Knoll fitted it and west country motorhomes sourced it.

The one fitted to the van by auto sleeper was more of a rear view camera with a poor screen at best.

the one fitted is about 100% better.

Appreciate you are in Lincoln but you may be able to find someone like this locally, supply & fit dual camera system and 7" monitor £600 ish

Thanks Tintent116, I have been looking locally with no luck. I'm thinking about a numberplate wireless kit which I've seen on youtube as a stand-in until I get the original sorted.
