LPG dashboard indicator
Does anyone know how much gas is still available when the red light shows. I have been on a site with no electric for 6 days and the fridge is still running and now on the 6th day of not using any more gas I find I can still light the oven? Is this monitor totally inaccurate?

Inaccurate but reliability inaccurate if that makes sense! As a rule, most of us still have at least half a tank left when the red light comes on. You just have to get to know your gauge.
I still worry after 3 years even though I know it’s nowhere near empty

Thanks very much, that is helpful to know
What a pain as we have not been very comfortable for the last few nights and obviously we could have carried on using our gas! Will do so in future

Being an anorak, I did a rough estimate based on the garage receipt a couple of years ago how long I could go off grid with my typical usage (fridge on 24/7, plenty of cooking including the oven and 25 minutes heating the water in the morning).
It worked out at around 13 days.

Re: LPG dashboard indicator
Interesting guide and I’m not questioning it for one second but I know for a fact that I have much more than 4 or 5 litres left in my tank when the red light comes on.
I always fill up when the red light comes on and I have never got anywhere near 15 litres in (based on a total capacity of 20 litres).
All our vans are a bit different and you really have to do the calculations for your own van, the one thing that we all agree on is that when the red light comes on, we still have some gas left

Re: LPG dashboard indicator
Red light on....means for us 9--10 Lts will fill it back up.
So how much is left in tank??? Not sure but about the same if the above is correct.
You'll be ok. No way near empty !!!!!???? Enjoy your roast tea or lasagne and chips.

Re: LPG dashboard indicator
I start to get worried when I get down to 3 green lights. Last time this happened I got just over 6 litres in.
Why can't we have accurate gauges for water, gas and vehicle fuel?

You soon get to know when to empty or top up, just takes time.pstallwood wrote:I start to get worried when I get down to 3 green lights. Last time this happened I got just over 6 litres in.

Our waste water always shows 3/4full even with the tap open.
Good job the fuel gauge does not suffer same problems.
