Very kind but put your glasses on Paramedic!
I was just struck by all the negative leaning posts I’ve read recently (for obvious reasons I guess) when most of us are pretty positive people.
I deleted my long winded post because I sounded exactly like the person I didn’t want to be

Re: Are we just too old!
T. S. Eliot's view on age was:
"I don't believe one grows older. I think that what happens early on in life is that at a certain age one stands still and stagnates."
Although he also said:
"There is not a more repulsive spectacle than on old man who will not forsake the world, which has already forsaken him."

Re: Are we just too old!
Just post it, and be done with it. then some other old gits like me can agree with you and share in your quandary ( sorry if that's not the queens English)" another grumpy thread".
It can't be as bad as a bbc headline, can it. Go on spill the beans, you know you want too.
Then as Fraud once said " let it go", well he didn't but he would if he was around now.

Filter out all of them !
Have you not noticed the positive thread "where am I....? " thread?
We need help on there, (and new photo libraries please)

Re: Are we just too old!
yes, Freud.
Late night spelling not my best subject, daytime spelling either.
I like the Elsa comment, "let it go, let it go....etc" ,
Just trying to help in some way with the poster and at the same time had "an interest" in what might have been the subject matter
ie, just a guess "lockdown fever"

Lockdown fever indeed and also the never ending stairs/landing woodwork that I’m trying to paint!

I spent years as an apprentice carmudgeon and having finally retired I feel I have earned the right to practice this time honoured skill.
There are places for positivity but the Grumpy Old Mens club is definitely NOT one of them.
Moan away and enjoy it

Funnily enough I was just wondering about starting a thread on “Reasons to be Cheerful” or “What made me smile today” or similar but there is, as you say, a lot of negativity on here so I thought it would go down like a lead brick and so didn’t.

And I've been thinking along the very same lines. Go to the Campra facebook page or web site if you want a good does of positivity.

Positive thinking makes you live longer and happier.
Negativity is exactly that negative in every possible way.
Ian's thought for the day!!

Re: Are we just too old!
positive thinking is not getting me the "where am I..?" photo.
ok, I'll start again....I'm hoping positively that someone new will get the answer soon and have a photo library full of lovely uk scenes to guess.
Boats, lighthouses, hills, old cars, old motorbikes, sea views, landscapes , green and pleasant landscapes.

I've got a few photos I would like to post on the "where am I" thread, because I forgot to title them and I've no idea where some of them are now

Perhaps there should be another light hearted thread for photos regardless of where they are

I’ve still got my slide rule in my desk drawer. I used to love using log tables though. Much more satisfying than a calculator.

I just happened to be sorting out one of my desk draws this afternoon - I have some 25 - 30 year old calculators as well - all still work.

My go-to calculator is ex a Christmas cracker. It dates back many years ( pre-retirement, when we could afford Christmas crackers that had calculators in them ?) but works well. It's solar powered so needs either the curtains drawn or a good desk lamp right over it however.
I did discover the other day that Alexa is able to do quite complicated calculations.

Never though of trying that - it works. Up till now I only used the echo dot in my study as a Bluetooth speaker
