Being as the National Trust  are supposed to be a green organisation I enquired about taking my scooter to Studland bay instead of the motor home.
They said it was £9.00, the same as a car. For another £1.00 i will take the van, cook lunch in it and save the cost of eating in the cafe. I can't believe they can't provide spaces for motorcycles, I don't mind paying but that is ridiculous.

We cycled to a NT place a few years ago and walked around the park, which is open free to the public.
We then enquired about going in to the house to buy lunch.
The receptionist at the car park said we would have to pay to go into the house and that she would charge us extra as we hadn't paid to use the car park!
Needless to say, we cycled off and spent a goodly amount on a fantastic lunch in the nearby town.

We once stayed at a B&B a mile or so from The Eden Project in Cornwall and walked there. We told the staff at the ticket office this and got a vast reduction on the entrance price. Result!
Regarding motorbike tax, one of my bikes  has the emission value published in the handbook, it's low enough to be free if it was a car, but like you, I have to pay £91 a year.

I can't remember when it changed from being officially called "Road Tax" or "Road Fund Licence" to "Vehicle Tax" or technically "Vehicle Excise Duty" but I think they gave up all pretence of the income being linked to rod maintenance a long time ago.

Nowadays it's more aligned to pollution from emissions, although they keep changing the goalposts around that.  I pay more for my 2005 1.9 Vectra than I do for my 2002 2.8 Pollensa although the latter is bigger and heavier.

Taxes frequently defy all normal rules of logic, apart from the fact that they are as sure as death!

Not sure if it can be called greedy, I'll let you be the judge. The cricket club in Kendal charges £1.50 for cars to park all day. If you want to park a motorhome though, it's £5  Whistle1

I am a member of the NT (have been since I was 21)I support what they do so I get free parking in all of their sites as well as free admission to their properties, three or four visits a year and the membership is paid for.
Their parking charges are good value for the areas they are in, council parking is cheaper but usually have a less visually outlook.

The NT charges the same for a motorhome as a car in our local car parks, can't complain at that. up!

I e mailed the NT and still had no reply. I also asked them where I could securely display my ticket. We are going to get membership anyway, but would still have the display problem.
In Seahouses council car park scooter are 1 pound per day in marked bays, that is more like it.

The beauty of having a bike is the fact you can park 'off piste'.

No point going into a paid car park, just put it somewhere out of the way outside of the private land so they can't touch you.

Looking on Google maps there's a good spot just outside the Studland NT car park where there's a nice area to separate the traffic with big boulders, I would have parked alongside one of those and away you go.  As long as you're not being a nuisance no-one even notices half the time.
