That may be so, but I still see foreign trucks filling up at our local Tesco having delivered around Manchester. But then again we are an awful long way from Dover..
While we've digressed to foreign trucks contributing to our pot hole infested roads, does anyone know if they pay the Dart Charge? If I don't pay I get a fine in the post, but will that apply to the thousands of foreign registered vehicles that use the crossing every day?

Yes YES its all Johnnie foreigners fault!  Never mind shortly we will be on our own and able to spend all of our Euro billions filling in all the potholes all over GB. Aye right! We are rapidly becoming a third world country its just that we have not accepted the fact yet.
Funny thing is,  if you complain to the council that you want a traffic calming speed hump installed in your street they will be there with an 8 wheeler full of tar next day  installing what looks like the north face of the Eiger to slow down those nasty diesel drivers .   Ask for the pothole in your street to be repaired and you are told there is no money..... hugegrins

We want cheap deals from the internet at cheapest cost to deliver, if this means delivery by foreign lorries its only our own fault. Next you will be telling me they are thinking of selling Wembley stadium to some Arab state investors !!  Ps switch off the lights on the way out of UK    hugegrins

Selling Wembley Stadium to an Arab investor?? You'll be telling me next that we've sold the Dartford Crossing to the French, and it's not going to be free to cross as we were promised...

Hi, Just got back from North Wales.
Is it me or are the roads there much better than in Derbyshire? There are hardly any pot holes.

Depends on whether they come under highways or county council.

I heard somebody on the radio a couple of years ago saying that councils in Wales had spent a fortune resurfacing roads so they could forget about them for a few years, instead of just repairing potholes

We have the Oxfordshire Solution here: we are to be given the materials to mend our own potholes. Volunteers already pull weeds, pick litter, put out fires and run many local libraries and community police schemes. We expect the call to come through for volunteer bin men, teachers and bus drivers any day.
