Hello, fellow Autosleeper devotees!

I've had the pleasure of using my Autosleeper Clubman GL for the last 3 years, and never cease to be impressed by its capabilities. Its built on a VW T4 chassis, and apppears to be totally reliable (crossed fingers). My wife and I use it chiefly for holidays in Scotland, wildcamping usually, and North Norfolk, wilding whenever possible. We use it throughout the year, typically about 60 nights/yr, and this year we are planning to explore Northern Europe, starting with 2 weeks in Germany over Easter. The German lessons are coming on well, and the collection of Michelin maps and guides is increasing on a daily basis.
Its nice to meeet you all!

Welcome from Mike and Liz in Dronfield (not too far away). Ours is a T4 based Trident. Brilliant base vehicle but can be costly when the gremlins mount an attack....! Do you have/use a preferred local VW specialist for servicing and repair?

Hi Mike,
Many thanks for your welcome, and I agree with your thoughts on the T4 as a base vehicle- it is excellent! We have the 5cyl 2.4 Diesel which appears to be pretty much bomb-proof. Its not the fastest van on the road (but its not the slowest either), and its quite economical- the best I've managed has been 32 mpg, but 29-30 is fairly typical. As for servicing and repairs, I use Brooklands Motor Company in Dalton, Rotherham. 01709 854000. They have a specialist VW guy (I know him as VW Dave!) who only works a couple of days a week, but he is excellent, very conscientious and reliable. Even better, they have the roof clearance to get the van on the lift inside.
Ive also heard some good reports of Volks-Tek on Callywhite Lane in Dronfield, but have never used them.
I did try our local VW agent at Tinsley Park, but £130 for an oil and filter change is a bit steep. Actually, its VERY steep!
