Hi from new Clubman owners!

Just introducing ourselves... Very very excited about picking up our 'new' (old) 1998 VW Clubman next week. We are 'nearly new'to campervanning - we looked after a lovely Autosleeper Symbol for about 9 months whilst it's owners were abroad but sadly they came home and sold it. Missed it so much we decided to save up and buy our own. I have been lurking on the forum for a while but look forward to joining the chat when we can build up some knowledge and experience to share. In the meantime, I am sure we will have loads of questions to ask soon!

Which 1998 Clubman are you getting? I had a 1998 2.5tdi Clubman for some 17 years, and if the little grey cells are not entirely withered, I might be able to dredge up our experiences! The first suggestion I have is to ask whether yours has cruise control? If not, - and assuming it's the VW base vehicle - then as a helpful Forum member told me - the vehicle is already wired for cruise control. All that's needed is to change the indicator stalk for the one incorporating the cruise controls. Cost about £100 fitted.

Another tip is to use Farcela Gel-coat restorer& Wax to get that outside gleaming. Great stuff on that model - whilst you're enthusiastic and have good weather!

Thanks Cymro! We are getting the VW 2.5TDI. Personally, I'm not an enthusiastic driver and know squat about mechanics and vehicles so I will be leaving matters of cruise control to the other half but, trust me, I wil be polishing it inside and out! Just going to google Farcela stuff you mentioned ....
