Re: Southport Rally
Did you see the sea , or was it way out as usual.
In 60-odd years I've only ever seen the tide in twice.
Hope it brightens up for you,

Went here for the first time this year. The road in along the esplanade was awful. My wife was almost seasick. Never been on a road like it.

Can't say I like Southport at all. Can't remember ever seeing the sea.

Re: Southport Rally
A day out at Southport was a real treat for us as kids.
The fairground was wonderful as was the boating lake and pier.
The old shopping arcades off Lord street are still a wonderful sight and we used to love a walk along the esplanade. Wondering what's gone wrong with it these days, although they did start to ruin it when they got rid of the floral hall and built that monstrosity of a hotel in its place.

Today the weather has been better and most members got a good day out. The vans had been decorated for Christmas and the lighting displays brilliant Think everybody enjoyed it and asked for a repeat next year including the fish and chips

My! will not be using the Esplanade route from the CC site towards Preston
What a ride that was ! Better the slower inland route from the end of Lords St to the town edge.
You thought Friday and Saturday were bad at S/port, even worse in South Lakes!

My wife likes the Esplanade road - we sing 'A life on the ocean wave' as we 'sail' along.

+1
I could have written that myself, I used to look forward to going to Southport,as a child, when we visited my dad's family (Nan) in Maghull.
It's lost some of the magic shine when I looked again as an adult.

You're Brave
Blimey you are a brave lot, I don't think that I would like sitting out the wind and the rain, it is bad enough being woken up by the sound of the rain lashing onto my house roof and the gale blowing dustbins down the road!roli wrote:Well at least 7 of us (that I know of) braved the Southport weather yesterday looks a bit better today.
