2007 Nuevo habitation door
the remote locking mechanism isn't working in our Nuevo. It makes no sound when the key button is activated. I previously looked up all the QA s I could see and tried them out to no avail. Is it possible a solenoid has gone and if so, where would I look plz?
Thanks for looking.

Re: 2007 Nuevo habitation door
Is the battery in the key fob the original?
It's getting a bit long in the tooth if it is. That's where I would look first before dismantling the van!

Re: 2007 Nuevo habitation door
Is the hab door locking with the key?, as Paul asks, are the front keys locking remotely?

Re: 2007 Nuevo habitation door
hi thanks again, yes both cab doors lock perfectly well with the remote locking. The habitation door locks with the key but it is very stiff to turn, i did try squirting in some lock oil

Re: 2007 Nuevo habitation door
If the hab door doesn't lock with the fob, try cleaning the three contacts at the top on the opening side.
That's likely to be the problem.

Re: 2007 Nuevo habitation door
Not sure what 12volt battery operates the hab door lock, when my van battery was low on my 09Nuevo the locks were sluggish to engage, carn't think of anythink else.wal71 wrote:thanks Dave, already tried that one.

Re: 2007 Nuevo habitation door
Thanks, yes the other doors work fine.. Will check the battery situation though. One other thing that might or might not be relevant is that the door has to be slammed very hard to shut fully.

So did ours!! Bloody thing must have woken everyone within half a mile when we closed up last thing at night!!!
Just a further thought. Has the slamming loosened a connection in one of those contacts at the top?? Can't remember if it's easy to check, but it's worth a look perhaps.

Re: 2007 Nuevo habitation door
With my 2006 Neuvo I can only lock the hab door with the key that I use for the gas and cassette door. Autosleeper must have changed it for the 2007.

Yes, stil the same, we have to use the smaller key as you state. will see if the contact wiring is accessible although it's not eve mentioned on the wiring diagram

Re: 2007 Nuevo habitation door
Well the cab key won't lock the hab door. Just shove some WD40 in the lock and you'll be ok. If it doesn't loosen first time put more in. I don't really understand what the problem is. Perhaps you can explain more

Re: 2007 Nuevo habitation door
Marquis have an unregistered 2015 Nuevo with a door that either doesn't shut or doesn't open. I wondered why they hadn't fixed it assuming it to be a one off. I hadn't even considered that it might be a design feature.Gromit wrote:So did ours!! Bloody thing must have woken everyone within half a mile when we closed up last thing at night!!!

Re: 2007 Nuevo habitation door
Must be a one-off Dave, as all the 2015 models have the Hartal door I think - so not a design fault.
They are a lot better than the Seitz was. Probably more secure as well, and can be fully closed from outside with a good shove. Likewise with a good pull from inside, though I'm a bit nervous about straning the handle by pulling too hard.
For interest, recent vans have a Remis rooflight, which is arguably better than the Heki, which always let rain splash in even when only open a millimetre!! (I exaggerate only slightly! )
The concertina blinds on the cab windows are also a big improvement on the curtain.
Not long now is it?? Bet you are like a big kid waiting for Father Christmas!

THIS Thursday!!!!!!
We definitely have the Hartal but I'm not sure of the problem van.
We have lost one of the rooflights in favour of habitation air-con and have gone for blinds AND curtains so we have plenty to go wrong.

Re: 2007 Nuevo habitation door
If your hab door is the same construction as my 09 Nuevo and Sigma , you may find it a struggle to strip down to inspect the locking mechanism. Whilst down in the New forrest our sun blind failed one night and frightened the life out of us, except the deaf dog.
Attempting to do a roadside repair, I gave up as I couldn't remove the hard plastic rivets holding the beige cover onto the frame,, fortunately Willesey was on our route back and managed to book the van in for a quick repair.
Once the cover was removed the the lads repaired the blind and reinstated the cover and lock back onto the door.
All repaired with an hour and back on the road for 9am.

Re: 2007 Nuevo habitation door
If that's the case, the remote has never locked the hab door. I'm confused - has the hab door ever locked via the remote when the cab doors lock? Or is it like rose (and mine) you have to lock it with the key that also does the gas locker and toilet cassette door?wal71 wrote:Yes, stil the same, we have to use the smaller key as you state. will see if the contact wiring is accessible although it's not eve mentioned on the wiring diagram

Good point Paul.
Is it actually supposed to lock by remote?
Has it ever locked via the remote?

He said earlier that he has cleaned the contacts at the top of the door, so yes it should lock by remote.

Re: 2007 Nuevo habitation door
Friends of ours looked at a 2007 Neuvo ES this week [having seen ours] and I was impressed that the hab door worked with the remote as our 2004 is a manual and same key as gas locker etc. At least I think it was a 2007 they were looking at! It is the first year that cab air con was fitted...anyway they have turned face and now looking at a 2009 ES for the same price and lower mileage with even more updates than our humble 2004!

But he also said earlier that he had to use the smaller key, hence the confusion.Gromit wrote:steamdrivenandy wrote:Good point Paul.

Re: 2007 Nuevo habitation door
Thanks again
rose49f - the advise is against WD40 as it can be injurious to possible plastic parts in some locks, the advice from SMC is to use silicon spray. SMC have advised us to check for loose wires on the contact pads, otherwise it may be a solenoid which necessitates stripping down the door panels, thanks to everyone for their input, I will post solution once a fix is found.

That too Paul.Paulmold wrote:But he also said earlier that he had to use the smaller key, hence the confusion.
He would have to use the smaller key to lock/unlock it manually, but it should also work on the zapper.
Ours did - mostly!!!

Confused! Can you confirm that your hab door locks with both keys. You haven't said.wal71 wrote:Thanks again
