Renault Rimini Empty Renault Rimini

Post by MollyC Thu Feb 14, 2013 4:38 pm

Hi everyone,
my name is Enid. My husband and I have owned an Autosleeper Renault Rimini 3 berth since 1995. We have done 125,000 miles in her, and hope to do many more, although the old girl goes in for MOT next week, so we're keeping everything crossed!!
We live near Crewe in Cheshire, and are both retired. We belong to the Caravan Club and rate their sites as the best. We have a 13 year old border collie cross, who comes on all holidays with us, her name is Molly and my surname starts with C hence my username-MollyC
I heard about this forum from a friend.
Best wishes to you all.

Hi Enid, Welcome to the forum wave
We used to have an RV50, which was the forerunner to the Rimini. Nice little vans up!

Hi Frank,
yes little being the operative word, but it does mean it can be garaged, so out of the weather when not in use!! We just had to modify the garage slightly.
Hi modelman,
good to hear from you in lovely Yorkshire. Used to have an uncle lived in Cleckheaton near Huddersfield, and another who lived in Thirsk, and I have a cousin living in Stockton-on Forest near York. We absolutely love Hawes and try to get up there each year. There's a very good CC site just a short walk out of the village.
Cheers,
MollyC.

asof_welcome2 from a few junctions up the M6. Our van has had its MOT today and all was well.
The site you mention at Hawes was our 1st ever trip out when we started tugging (lived on Teesside at the time)

Hi MollyC, my wife and I are from that neck of the woods, me being a born and bred dabber and my wife though a Potter from birth has lived in Nantwich most of her life. We are based anywhere but there, though have family scattered throughout C & N so visit fairly often.

They are a good bunch on here, you will enjoy up!

Hi Tommy-darcy,
I was born and bred in Wistaston actually, where we still live. I much prefer Nantwich to Crewe, and usually go in a couple of times a week.
Cheers,

Small world. As I couldn't afford to live in Nantwich, I lived in Handforth rd Wistaston for a few years, and my brother lives in Windermere rd now. My wife and I say to each other "Better get our jabs done before going into Crewe", not being nasty but you know what we mean lol4

After working at Rolls Royce and Bentley for 22 years I had my fill of the place tap_fingers

Hi Tommy-Darcy,
it seems you have the high top version of our van, and I do believe you have our awning!! smile! My Hubby worked at RR for 23 years!!
I know Windermere rd and Handforth. My son had a paper round when he was a lad and one day when he'd hurt his leg and couldn't ride his bike, I remember taking him around in the car, and doing Handforth rd. You may have been living there at that very time!! smile! We live about a mile from there, further into Wistaston village.
Cheers,
MollyC

Hi Whisky,
thank you for your welcome. I don't know much about Nottinghamshire, except my daughter did her law degree at Nottingham Trent, and very much enjoyed living in Nottingham for 3 years.
Cheers,

Ian's van is a Duetto, based on the Ford Transit, your Rimini is based of the Trafic. There isn't really a hightop version of yours. The hightop version of of the RV50 (forerunner to the Rimini) was the RHT. The later Trafic based hightop was the the Rapport, but it was nothing like the Rimini.

Hi Tommy-Darcy and Frank,
yes I do realise that the high top versions on the Trafic are Recro and Rapport, and thought at a quick glance at the photo that it was one of those, obviously not!

Hi Tommy-Darcy,
interesting that you are in Carnforth at the moment. I lived in Kendal for 3 years in my teens, and loved it.
My mother was Kendal born and bred, and she was one of a very large family all scattered around Cumbria and Yorkshire. We're hoping to visit God's own county (Cumbria) some time this year!! Lots of memories of my teenage years up there, and of course the beautiful scenery!
Cheers,

We winter here in our holiday lodge which we rent out when we are not here. wave

We too love the lakes, so much so when we pop our clogs we have requested that we are scattered off the steamer in Ulleswater becoming fish fodder allthumbz
