Do you use the handbrake? I suspect that having the armrest down might make reaching the handbrake difficult. I've taken the armrest off our passenger seat as my wife never used it and it's now easier to rotate the seat.

In my experience it makes using the handbrake nigh on impossible.

It would be used for long journeys, as it would have to be out of the way to get in and out as well.
