GreenFlag Empty GreenFlag

Hi all

Trip was planned from Morecambe to sunny Somerset for our 1st proper week away this year with the lady, son & dog.

Just had to spend £350 for 2 new brake calipers but thats another story.

Anyhoo, stopped off in a pub in Stafford after noticing it oveheating - cosmic.

Then got going again the day after and same again, * Inappropriate Word * - stopped at Gloucester services and the coolant was no more.  Resevoir bone dry and lots of dry coolant all over the engne bay - tunrs out the thermostat housing had split (on what is a 2.5L transit engine).

Then here comes the fun stuff.

1)  Green Flag could not find my account and took 2 hours to verify i was a member while the poor recover man waited.
2)  Recovery man ragged the engine and clutch getting it on the trailer (didnt use winch?)
3)  Could only take us as far as Gardano services to picked up by a 2nd recovery truck.
4)  Recovery man drives 10miles past the services - minor human error but added to general woes.
5)  Told we'd have to wait in the graveyard of lorries and other breakdowns for 3 hours until next vehicle.
6)  The next vehicle turned up on time but with only space for one passenger!!
7)  Ranted to GreenFlag who sent us a Taxi which cost them £80 to get to our campsite.
8)  Van turned up on site and thankfully repaired by mobile vehicle technician to the tune of £360!!!!

So, eventful trip marred by the vehcile fault, service by GreenFlag & cost of repair.

I get we travelled on a very busy day but GreenFlag seemed somewhat under the cosh and didnt seem to have control of our problem.  Actualy recovery men however, were spot on and eventually got to our destination for much needed pint (or 3).

Did you read my Saga from last year?

Their service has certainly slipped in recent years.

Oh my!!!

That sounds awful!  I spoke to another broken down caravaner at the services who said the 1st recovery truck declined to rescue them as they had a dog.  The 2nd van turned up 4 hours later and requested the dog stayed in the car on the back of the trailer!!  Not good for dog or owners!

Once Greenflag have given job to a recovery company, that recovery company has to liaise with any other company that it hands the job to. Greenflag don't have anything to do with the job once handed out.
