Re: Celebrities.....
Well, thank you Quilter for the invitation to give my reaction to this outfit. Initially I was puzzled as to who this individual was but assumed correctly after remembering the event on the news and confirmation by Google search.
It would most definitely have to be a fancy dress party where the emphasis was on turning up in the most outrageous outfit unimaginable to deliberately cause shock and horror. There would be a completion with a substantial cash prize to the tune of £75,000 to the winner which of course I would win to afford a new Corinium Duo.
If this party was non fancy dress, then I would add to the attire a black velvet sack to cover my head for complete disguise, such would be the ridicule, laughter and likely much debate about my sexuality?
Hoping I haven't caused offense. Regards.

We got the Tines for £3 for 3 months.. And, no, I’ve no idea who Billy Porter is, but his dresstux did make the Times.Quilter wrote:Paramedic wrote: I need to emphasize that my findings are based purely on fleeting engagement with the television portraying the latest news.
When we’re away I download several newspapers, inc the Daily Mail ( OK, I know....). They always feature the Worst Dressed Celebs on the night of some of these awards events.
Prize for me goes to a man called Billy Porter ( I’m sure I needn’t explain who he is ? ) who wore a long tuxedo dress to the Academy awards last week. Google it and tell me what you think the reaction would be if you turned up to a party in this !

Im with you there Groundhog, people ridicule Trump but are blind to how he’s turning America around, he’s just about carried out every promise he made! (Except where he’s met infantile opposition by Schumer & Polosi the hypocrites) A rarity for anyone in power! Who wants a charismatic, polite smooth talking leader? He was voted by the people to get the job done NOT be nice, granted he’s a rough diamond and I don’t agree with everything he does, but my god I despair at this country today and the people being so sensitive to every little thing at the expense of their country going down the pan... Things that are important they remain silent or impartial on, and stuff that doesn’t matter they are all outraged and offended by, Trump being the perfect example! We could do with him here in this country to sort out the bloody mess we’re in due to all the lefty liberal sensitive pessimistic souls!

Here in New Zealand my daughter has just bought a new end of line Holden SUV, part of General Motors. This car was built in the GM factory in South Korea, formerly Daewoo. From the beginning of this year the replacement vehicle is now built in the GM factory in Tennessee.

Absolutely shocking, there was a Christmas programme on one if the channels last night and Michael Ball and Alfie Boe weren't on it

Better than Andy Stewart every hog money, or whatever it is you lot won't be able to celebrate this year!!
Merry Christmas to you and all other members. Enjoy it as much as you can in the circumstances , and be thankful you are not a lorry driver!

Cripes Dave, Andy Stewart has been dead for over thirty years, well I hope he was before they buried him
Ball & Boe seem to have been guesting on just about every entertainment show on every channel for the last three months promoting their Christmas album (closely followed by Dolly Parton, Gary Barlow and Kris Kamara). Yes I know I need to get out more

Re: Celebrities.....
One of my gripes is how ubiquitous Greg Wallace is on the TV. Wiki has him down as "an English media personality, presenter, writer, and former greengrocer". It's less about him personally, more how he keeps cropping up on so many TV programs as their favorite presenter for so many TV shows. I've had enough of watching him on TV some time ago.

Guess what, Channel 5 program just started about Britain's favourite novel, and who is on it but Greg Wallace, never struck me as literary type

Re: Celebrities.....
I hate 'celebrity' based programs with one exception 'Celebrity Mastermind'. I enjoy it because without fail, the contestants show an incredible lack of knowledge about almost everything in the general knowledge section. They frequently get so few correct that it is embarrassing, although it does makes me feel superior as I can always outscore them. So many seem to be so called 'Celebrities' just because they have appeared on obscure tv programs and exhibit little or no talent other than pretty looks and being in the right place at the right time.
Whatever happened to gaining a good education and putting in the work to achieve something worthwhile and really deserve acclamation.

Re: Celebrities.....
Agree with that Roger. Last night's edition had only one "celebrity" I recognised or had heard of. One female said because she had a northern accent people said she was stupid and she was on the show to prove them wrong....she then bombed which had less to do with her being northern than the way celebrity works. Apparently her celeb status came from some reality TV show rather than by demonstrating any skill or knowledge that would contribute to usefully to society.
I also seem to be hitting good score rates on Christmas University challenge. Daughter and I between us have been outscoring the teams most nights.
Only connect still defeating me most nights though.

Re: Celebrities.....
This thread started with my imaginary boat and which 'celebrities' you would put on it to sail off in to oblivion, Askit (Tony) mentions Gary Barlow, yep, I sure have space for him! Greg Wallace? No sorry he has to stay.
Not sure I get the correlation between 'celebrities' and education, I am sure there have been many worthy of the 'celebrity' title from a background of limited knowledge. Some really shouldn't be going anywhere near even the simplest of quiz shows, although proving yourself a bit thick can perhaps be endearing and increase your exposure even further.
So let's have some more suggestions for another launch of the ship to nowhere in 2021!

Re: Celebrities.....
I would put anyone on the ship off the television who says "amazing or absolutely " in every sentence . Hope the ship is big enough?
Also all those "actors " off any of the soaps that think acting means being able too pull a sad face , sigh a lot and just grunt . I can't blame them too much as the scripts are so poor it must call for them to just "act" like that. Sorry don't even know any of their names as a result.
Yes I do....!!! That pair Ant & Dec (s*%t Saturday night tv)
just looked again "grumpy old men's club" so it's ok to post my views.

Re: Celebrities.....
Kate Quilton (Food Unwrapped etc.) is for the boat.
The sickeningly disingenuous greasing round everyone she goes to meet, on her many wonderful, free, but quite unnecessary jollies.
Her appalling diction, with every word spoken through a broad toothy grin, so that "food" becomes "feed" and "good" becomes "gid" and "looking" becomes "licking" . . .
And even I notice her appalling lack of dress sense, and I have to look in a mirror to remember what I'm wearing myself!!
Apart from that I've got nothing against her.
