Ankle Pain - lower seat box in a pug boxer?

After the last couple of trips I've found my right ankle and leg are taking a beating from long distance motorway drives - I'm still limping today from the Easter trip drive home on Monday.

I have a swivel base on the driver's seat so am aware it's a tad higher than normal, so I find the throttle position ends up with my ankle presumably getting some sort of strain from the tight angle.

I don't want to lose the swivel seat but have read that some places do lowered seat boxes and wondered if anyone had any luck from doing this?

If it impedes the battery I'll be moving it into the bench seat to prevent issues, but wanted to know if anyone has had similar issues with ankle/leg pain and if this has been a help.

Can't comment on the effect on leg pain but this company does the seat boxes..

I guess it really depends on your leg length, 34 inside leg in my case. I also have swivel seats, and while I find the drivers one is fine in relation to the pedals, what I don't like is peering through the top of the screen.
My wife finds the passenger seat too high, but that is easily remedied by resting her feet on a hassock.

That makes interesting reading & I never thought of that, I WAS considering fitting a swivel to my driver side, but being somewhat 'short-of-leg' I don't think I will now as I already get cramps sometimes, & that's bound to make things worse.

Retro fitted cruise control might help ? I have replacement knees and find c/c a god send.

Hi Noggin.

I fitted a lowered seat base on a previous Boxer and it was a great success - up to a point.

Driving became much more pleasant since (like Al) I found it very uncomfortable having to drive like Quasimodo. Still do, but I've removed the Remis blinds top shroud from my side, and that makes it a bit better.

The down side was the uneven levels between the rotated driver's seat and the side benches. It wasn't a big deal as we used the double bed, but if sleeping in singles it would have been uncomfortable.

If you go for it, do be warned that the seats are a lot heavier than you expect - or you will have a bad back to go with your ankle!!

Great to hear it helped out Dave, i've already had the seat off to replace battery so am ok with that part (yeah it was surprisingly heavy).

I have a bit of a stumpy 30" inside leg so it sounds like it's definitely the height then, as I can only get near enough to use the throttle with a steep angle of my foot.

Will give that company a call and see if they can supply me with a lower seat box.

I did think abut the height when parked up, but the seat also has the height mechanism, so could actually boost it back up for sitting in the van after parking.

I did check if the height section could be removed but it doesn't look like it possible.

I have one of those boxes in my garage somewhere.

We bought it for the passenger seat on our Pollensa, which has a swivel but no height adjustment. I didn't like sitting high up as I'm fairly tall and the overhanging bulkhead and top of the windscreen obscured the view. It worked fine as it goes however I then found that my knees were always bent due to the lower seat height so I ended up using a foam pad to boost it up again which defeated the whole point of the exercise. 

So I removed it and refitted the original box and just slouch if I want to enjoy the view.

I did have to drill some extra holes to line up with the locating points. Pictures here, I have the dimensions somewhere if it's of interest.
