Ferry across the Seine
hi all, I'm planning a trip across to France and the route I'm taking includes Yainville on the seine....
I believe there's a ferry or a number of them across the Seine in various areas
Has anyone taken a Motorhome on one of the ferrys....do they take vehicular traffic?
Ray

Ray,
My goodness, what a God forsaken place that is! I've never seen anything like it. i.e. in the middle of everything and connected to nothing!
This site ...

... mentions a car ferry to Heurteauville but nothing about motorhomes.
The good news is that the meander that Yainville sits on is less than 20 miles from a bridge at Rouen ...
... and the bad news is that I'm not very fond of that particular city!
Sorry I couldn't be more help but not only have I never been there I will probably make sure that I never do!
Ian

We've crossed the Seine here at Quillebeuf sur Seine several times. The ferry takes motorhomes and is free.

Sorry to hear your opinion on that place Ian, I might be grateful of it but before I change any plans I'll research it so thanks for the input.
Thanks for the reply about Quillebeuf, I'll look at that crossing, I couldn't find much at all on the crossings so it's a big help.

Re: Ferry across the Seine
We stayed at Jumieges to visit the Abbey with the intention of crossing the ferry the next day. The site owner advised that the rear body overhang was likely to catch on the ramp so we routed via Rouen. I guess it depends on the size of ferry, height of water and angle of ramp. I've been across the Rhine on ferries several times but they are on a much bigger scale.
Looking at Google street view the ferry at Quillebeuf looks to be Rhine sized and would be ok.
We've used the Pont de Brotonne to cross several times, usually staying over on the aire at La Mailleraye-sur-Seine.

Thanks Peter, my traveling friends may have such an issue with the long rear overhang...it may dictate proceeding from that route!
