Mercedes rear compartment light switch.
Have been trying to suss (without success) what the rear compartment light switch on the panel does It is there and the red LED lights when it is switched on but I think it may be redundant and therefor has the possibility to be used for something else.
Any ideas anyone?

Not noticed that switch, on the dash or the interior light panel? It obviously does something, switches on the red LED.

It's on the dash just to the left of the steering column.PLOUGHLIN wrote:Not noticed that switch, on the dash or the interior light panel? It obviously does something, switches on the red LED.

Evening, when we picked up our Winch the 'handover expert' Mike (who was excellent and very knowledgeable) noted that a couple of the dashboard switches were 'leftovers' from the Sprinter van controls! He explained they don't do anything?! Andy

Its provided in the chassis cab to facilitate operation of a light in a 'coachbuilt' load area of a commercial conversion. Its not used by AS in their conversions, the light just indicates the switch operation.

Thanks Peter, Andy and all. Sounds like there may be a useful switched power source waiting to have some light or other attached to it

The diesel fuelled heater, operated by the switch circled, rapidly heats the engine cooling water to get the engine and cab heater hot quickly. It will not operate if the fuel tank is less than 1/4 full.
The unused light switch can be seen on the row below.
