Quick Introduction - Andy Beaumont Empty Quick Introduction - Andy Beaumont

Post by beaumonta Tue Jul 21, 2015 10:33 pm

Just arrived and I thought that I would introduce myself and also my motor home. My name is Andy Beaumont and I live in Port Erin on the Isle of Man. I bought my 2nd hand 1999 Auto-Sleeper Executive in beautiful condition in 2010, which is my pride and joy. It is based upon the Peugeot Boxer 320 and is a fully professional conversion (not to knock the Self Build Motor-home owners who are a group I have always admired).

My motor-home has been modified to include a tow-bar for a small trailer or boat (with rear overhead shelf for bicycle or small moped) and also external roof mounted solar panels for recharging the leisure batteries while parked up. These have worked well for my minimal wild-camping needs (just en-route between camp-sites)

For internet connectivity I have a roof mounted WiFi receiver which can pick up signals up to 1 KM distant. I also have a backup 3G Broadband connection using a 3-Mobile dongle. Digital TV is via a roof mounted, 240-volt powered receiver. I am also fitting a 900hz signal booster to improve mobile phone reception.

It has been used by me in the Isle of Man as well across the water (UK and Scotland - got up as far as the Shetland Islands) and I am currently touring southern England until a new contract turns up. I am an itinerant contract worker so have lots of time on my hands between contracts.

This is my baby:

If a monocoque design was good enough for the McLaren MP4/1, it's good enough for me.

Nice and warm during cold and wet whether, even survived snow during Easter 2013.

Must admit I don't use the toilet / shower unit at all after having problems with leaks (now fixed). It is now really just used as storage space for an emergency generator and the washing up pile.  winks
