IMHO....a very weak application of bicarbonate of soda won't be too caustic or smell very much. Better than nasty chemicals.

If you mean lime scale in the waste tank, we have never bothered about it. It does build up, but only to a point and periodically a good rinse and a gentle shake, seems to sort it out. We have been using Thetford loos since 1977 and not had any problems using this process.

Its a good idea tobwipe over the loo bowl and the black blade ( flap ) with lemon juice or vinegar every noe and then. It removes limescale build up and means things do not stick to the toilet bowl and the blade mechanism always slides properly. When you've removed the scale wash the parts you' ve wiped to remove any left over acid.

When we are away I use a packet of lemon toilet wipes to clean the toilet and surrounds. I don't use them at home but there I have better access to running water to rinse clothes used. In the van I can just use and bin. I buy them from Pound land and in all the years I've done so they have never damaged the plastic etc.

Edit to add: we also wipe over the black blade to ensure it slides well. We used to use olive oil but have lashed out on the proper Thetford stuff.
