inactive members
Hi Ed, haven't received an email about inactive members. Just went on site yesterday for a bit of advice?Admin wrote:Birthdays:
Just a quick notice to advise that Birthday Greetings have now been disabled and the Birthday Forum has now also been removed.
This feature was originally put in place to give members a dedicated area to wish members birthday greeting and to prevent these greetings otherwise being posted all over other sections of the forum.
The members "Birthday Look Up Status" feature indicating up and coming birthdays has now also been removed from the site.
Inactive Members:
It has been mentioned about inactive members being culled, and this also will be actioned over the coming days.
Regards
Ed
Am sorry, didn't know you had to sign in on a regular basis? Just assumed that you could just post whenever.
How often are members required to post on the forum to retain their membership please?
Am not the best with tech, but would love to retain my membership as everyone is so kind and helpful.
Thanks Heidi.

Re: Latest changes to forum
This begs the question: whilst I understand the need to winnow the Forum from time to time, I hope it would be possible for those members who seem to be inactive to be sent an email before action is taken to delete them as members. Not, of course, if that would require much work to address them individually - but otherwise it would be the nice thing to do.

Hi Cymro
To clarify our procedure regarding deletion of accounts:
We deem "Inactive Members" those who have registered on the forum but have never signed on to the forum using that username, if you search the members list you will see we get many who fall into this category.
We have to presume these are accounts setup by spammers or non bonafide individuals or it could just be people who think they have to register to use the forum then don't realise they need to sign in under that name & are viewing the forum as a guest for each session thereafter?
Regards
Ed

Thanks Heidi.
You don't have to sign on on a regular basis, it's really the members choice. There is also no minimum qty of posts or visits required to remain active, we only delete (as above) accounts that have been registered but never ever accessed since the day they were created.

Thanks, Ed - for a most helpful explanation. Now I understand. Forget my suggestion!
