Milenco Wheel clamps

Hi

Anyone got any experience of Milenco wheel clamps? Ordered an original wheel clamp on the internet from a company called Leisureshop Direct. When it arrived, the right leg section has a clear bend to one of the corners. It has bent right over. It also looks to me that the bend occurred prior to painting as there is no stress at all to the paint and no marks anywhere on the painted metal. The clamp can't be used properly because of this bend as it catches on the metalwork when the leg section is inserted. Anyone else had this experience, or experience dealing with Milenco? I am hoping they will replace the leg section.

There is a "bend" on the inside (shorter) leg that allows the clamp to curve round the tyre and prevent its removal by letting the tyre down.

Is this the type you are talking about?  
If not then please select the type you have and almost certainly someone will come back and help.

You shouldn't have to deal with Milenco. You purchased from Leisureshop Direct and your contract is with them if it is faulty.

Yes its called the Milenco Original Wheelclamp. http://www.milenco.com/products/wheelclamps/original-wheelclamp/  It has three legs. The right hand leg has a small bend at one of the corners which is not supposed to be there. I can tell its not supposed to be there because it catches on an internal painted face making it very difficult to remove when assembled. What appears to have happened is that it was bent during manufacture and then painted over. This is why I was going to contact Milenco, they may be able to swap the right leg section. It saves a lot of time and effort than returning it back to the retailer and they shipping it back to Milenco, and then me having to wait for Milenco to replace the product to the retailer and for them to ship another out to me. I need this clamp quickly, so if they (the retailer) is going to mess me around, then I will just ask for a refund and buy a different product. If Milenco are interested in customer satisfaction and the quality of their own products, it is in their interest to solve this issue quickly. The reason I posted this question was to see if anyone else had an experience with Milenco products and what they are like for dealing with problems.

I don't have any experience of the model you have but it is not Milenco's problem if the product is not "Fit for Purpose" under the Trade Descriptions Act.

The Seller has a duty to ensure that something is "Fit For Purpose" and therefore it is them that HAVE to replace the item with a model that is "Fit For Purpose" or give you your money back.

If you bought it with a Credit Card it's a no-brainer.  If the Seller is in any way reluctant to sort out your problem then let the Credit Card Company know and you will most likely be refunded your money almost immediately.

Yes it was a credit card. I do understand the thing about the seller being responsible, however, having worked in a similar chain myself, I know that sometimes it is better for the customer and general goodwill if the manufacturer/distributor can deal with smaller issues for the sake of speed and customer satisfaction, because the faulty part is going to be coming back to them anyway, and they are going to be supplying the replacement part anyway. I agree the dealer should be pro-active in doing their bit, but quite often they are not, and the manufacturer/distributor steps in to solve the problem because their product quality has a reputation to uphold. In a way, the Fit for Purpose thing is Milenco's problem because the fault is a manufacturing error. If the retailer sold the product on without checking or seeing the fault, then they are not to know it is Not Fit for Purpose. If the fault occurs whilst in the possession of the seller, then its still Not Fit for Purpose, but not a manufacturing error. This fault occurred during manufacture, and the goods have been passed on through the seller to the consumer without the seller knowing about the fault. However, if the seller did know about the problem but sold it on anyway, (it was £20 cheaper than other retailers), then the situation is different, and a bit more sinister. Anyway, I am getting ahead of myself. I will see what happens and report back. Its always good to know how these events are sorted so it gives other consumers fair warning about what they may expect if they buy a particular brand or deal with a specific seller.
