The definition of our game

The definition of a rugby tackle is when an opponent runs into you at 100mph and you eventually fall to the floor. The definition of a Football tackle is when an opponent touches your shirt and you roll over in agony for 10 mins     

     

In my school I always thought that the definition of "Fear" was being selected to play in the annual "Girls v. Boys" hockey game!

I was wrong.     

"Fear" is when you see a player removed to the hospital with his ear hanging off and the Games Master says "Okay Ian, on you go!"

I much preferred the rather obscure field sports of "Catching the Javelin" and "Heading the Shot"!

I heard that rugby is a gentlmans game, played by men pretenting to be hooligans and football is a hooligans game played by men pretenting to be gentlmen! We dont get rugby where I live and its a shame, just fishing and hunting, fishing is boring and hunting is a bit unfair. ( I have yet to meet a deer or any animal that can outrun a shot from a rifle)

Yes finns like a drink! I understand that they consume about the same as good old blighty but there are only five and a half million people living here so they have to drink a tad more to keep up.  About a 100,000 lakes, plenty of forest and a language that no one realy understands. Wonderful place if you like your peace and quite.
