Nuevo 2 TV Aerial
Having read some debates about what aerial A.S. may have fitted when this van was new can anyone explain how to identify what my 2010 Nuevo EK will have fitted please?

Peter - sorry for the delay - had to retrieve the van from storage. I have attempted to post a picture via the "host an image" button.

That method of attaching an image seems to have failed. Second question then is how to upload an image from this computer to this forum?

Re-Nuevo 2 TV aerial
Hi Chris
We had the Omni directional mushroom style aerial on the van and replaced it with a Status 530/10 which gives good reception on most sites. However we have a Avtex aerial as a standby for remote locations.

Re: Nuevo 2 TV Aerial
It looks rather like a Teleco Wing, though current versions of that have the word "Wing" in big letters on the top!
If you follow the cable inside, does it connect to an amplifier/splitter and, if so, are there any maker's markings on that?

I'm sure mojo is correct. In any event its is an omnidirectional aerial that is easy to use if you are in a VERY strong signal area from a main transmitter but no good anywhere else ie most of the nice wild countryside we like to camp in.
There are plenty of posts in the forum about aerial performance. While looking for images just now I found the site linked above. Lots of good stuff and some very frank critique.

Re: Nuevo 2 TV Aerial
It is the Wing aerial as fitted to my Broadway 2010. Absolutely hopeless in almost every area we've visited.
Replaced it with a Status 560.

Re: Nuevo 2 TV Aerial
That does surprise me on a 2010 model. My 2006 has the Status 530 directional. I didn't think they would have gone backwards to an Omni-directional.

Re: Nuevo 2 TV Aerial
They've only very recently started to fit directional aerials as standard. On my last two vans I've had the dealer remove the omnidirectional and install a directional aerial before delivery - at my cost.

Is an aerial replacement a diy job or is it a specialist task?

Re: Nuevo 2 TV Aerial
Like most things - its easy if you know how.
I've (nearly) always left the task of drilling holes through the outer skin of my van to a professional who does it all the time.
I did once enlarge the hole in a floor that the fire air intake went through. I cut into a duct I didn't know was there and just missed the gas pipe that ran through it......

Omni vs directional
My 'classic' nuevo es also has a directional status Ariel, so perhaps it is also an 'upgrade'. In some ways I preferred the omni as fitted to the caravan as you didn't need to wind and point it and remember to do again when leaving. On the other hand I only once got a watchable picture (analog) when we stayed on a CL close to a transmitter mast.

My 2012 has the Teleco directional which works well, apart from just outside Marquis at Newbury!

Re: Nuevo 2 TV Aerial
If you have a Status 530 or other directional fitted the original owner probably like us specified it as new or the dealer not wanting grief from a future customer decided to order it.
