Spend 8 weeks per year cycling in France. Would appreciate any info from others in regard to quiet routes near camp sites. Anything between 25 and 60 miles. Circular of course.

Hi Oldbikerider.

Welcome to the forum from Nottinghamshire. Sorry that I can't help with your enquiry about french cycle routes. Someone on the forum certainly will. You will maybe get a better responce to your question in the general chat section as it's mainly introductions in this one.

Thank you, been there done that, great place for cycling but in 100 plus heat there is very little shade. Camp sites are a bit cramped you need to carry a shoe horn to get into some sites and pitches.

Hi there,

Welcome from a cold, wet and windy Skegness! cold rainyday keep_cool

We lived on a boat in France and almost every canal had a brilliant cycle-path on at least one side.

If you are looking for an "adventure"; paddle in the Atlantic at Bordeaux and then follow the Gironde, Canal Lateral and Canal du Midi over to Agdi and paddle in the Mediterranean. We did it to celebrate being 65 and the 510 kilometres took us five days!!

For a ten day adventure I think you could go "canal" out "backroads back" and then move the motorhome to wherever you turned back. The route runs through countryside for most of the distance but at almost every hamlet and village there are boat moorings with places for motorhomes right alongside.

Enjoy. allthumbz

Best regards,
drinksallround
