Re: Water filler point
Does that mean that, in the set up in original post, that the fresh water tank can be filled using an ordinary hose instead of having to use the 12v Whale Aquasource Mains Water Hook Up?

Re: Water filler point
The motorised valve was controlled by a float switch in the fresh water tank so that when the tank was full it would stop the water flow. That system allowed the fill point to be left permanently co0nnected to a mains water tap that was turned on.

Re: Water filler point
Thanks Peter, if we reconnect the valve and original pipes how do we know when the tank is full ?Peter Brown wrote:Yes but you'll still need the Whale connector to attach the hose to the fill point

Re: Water filler point
Thanks again Peter, so I only want it to work for top up mainly, we try not to stay on many campsites, are the 12v wires already in place ?Peter Brown wrote:As far as I can see, you still have the 12v supply to the connectors on the filling point to be able to use a pump into a water container but not sure how that supply (and the pump) could be switched on/off

Caraman wrote:Some people do remove the solenoid/motorised valve as I have done. The gauze that protects the valve easily becomes clogged with grit and if the assembly is difficult to get at as is the case on mine, removal and cleaning is a pain. If the gauze becomes clogged the fill rate is reduced. I often use an external pump plugged into the socket to fill the freshwater tank from a water barrel. For it to work the external pump has to generate enough water pressure to overcome the pressure switch inside the Whale socket so that power goes to the valve to open it. I found this was stressing the pump. Now as soon as the pump is powered it pumps water into the freshwater tank. When the tank is full, power to the Whale socket is automatically cut which stops the pump.
