Nuevo backup camera pairing and rear lights
Hello,
I've just bought a 2018 AS Nuevo and am well pleased with it but have a couple of queries. Somewhere along the line it's lost its backup camera monitor. The camera is a Garmin BC 30 and I have a Garmin Camper 770 sat nav. This has the facility to link a wireless camera. I'm assuming they're compatible. However, ignition on and in reverse gear (reversing light is on) they still don't talk to each other. What am I missing assuming there's no broken wires?
Second query. The rear lights don't come on when driving with the lights switched off but the front sidelights do. The rears work when main head lights switched on (there is only one on position). Are they meant to come on with the front side lights? if so, is there a likely weak point in the loom somewhere?
Thanks
Further enquiries indicate the BC 30 cameras links with the Garmin Nuvi sat navs and the BC 40s with Camper 770 sat navs. Cheaper to get a second hand Nuvi and have another monitor than a BC 40 camera.

When you say front sidelights, are these DRLs rather than sidelights?

Daytime running lights. Yes I think that's them.

The EU directive that required manufacturers to fit DRLs did not require them to illuminate the tail lights. This was to save the minuscule amount of CO2 which would have been generated per vehicle.

Thank you. I was hoping it was bureaucratic nonsense rather than a fault with the Nuevo.

In which case, they are operating correctly. Your Peugeot handbook will confirm.DeepTrout wrote:Daytime running lights. Yes I think that's them.

What a ludicrous world we live in! Since my 1982 Volvo 265 I have always wondered why the tail lights didn't illuminate along with the front driving lights (which were rather derided then by non-Volvo owners!). It would seem to me that if there is a case for front driving lights then for much of that time there must be an equal case for tail lights being illuminated.
With my Boxer I actually find that I occasionally forget to turn on the headlamps since they are rather dim and in some light conditions the driving lights (being bright LED's) can give the erroneous impression that the headlights are on, so no rear lights until I realise my error. This bit of forgetfulness is compounded by the fact that our other two cars have auto headlights.
Has anybody fitted brighter headlights?
My 2019 Boxer's switching is the same as the OP's : no side light option on the stalk, so no chance to use the side lights as parking lights.
Whilst on lighting gripes, what about all these modern cars where the rear direction indicators are too dim? My wife's Toyota Yaris indicators are nigh on invisible when the brake lights are on!
