Re: Really !!! ?
Wonder how many of these readers of MMM, WhatMotorhome and camper magazines who voted for Marquis are AS owners?

Re: Really !!! ?
This is too generalised anyway. They ought to separate the branches - there are some dreadful ones, and some very good ones.

Always seems strange to me, when they say 2025 when we are still in 2024!

Largest dealer network=largest customer base=largest potential number of voters.
Impossible to determine but votes weighted for customer base size per dealership would be different

My Thoughts exactly Paul.
We bought a van from Marquis Tewksbury many years ago and have never been back.
Funnily enough that branch won a dealer of the year award the same year.

I knew what this thread would be about before I even opened it. It's true that I had some issues with getting warranty work done, but some of the delays were caused by Auto-Sleepers, not Marquis. Perhaps Marquis are better at dealing with the other makes they sell. And since my warranty expired and I have been getting them to make improvements at my expense, they have been OK.

Autosleepers and Marquis are, in effect, the same firm. Same directors. Selling arm of the manufacturer.

But Marquis are not permitted to authorise warranty work. They can only request authorisation from the department at the factory that deals with warranty claims.Rocky wrote:Autosleepers and Marquis are, in effect, the same firm. Same directors. Selling arm of the manufacturer.

Re: Really !!! ?
I run my new van in returning to Marquis Tewksbury, all the warranty work was with what they fitted as extras.
absolute shambles.
Someone told me that the then workshop manager had used to be a butcher and he clearly still was.
I do hope that they have improved but I wouldn't hold my breath.

But you’ll get nowhere if you complain to AS about Marquis. They’ll tell you it is a separate company, which it is in legal terms, and to complain to Marquis directly.Rocky wrote:Autosleepers and Marquis are, in effect, the same firm. Same directors. Selling arm of the manufacturer.

I think it depends on how you do it.
OK, I'm going to be the odd one out here, but it's based on my experience. Prior to living 'oop norf' we lived in the south and my experience of trying to purchase a motorhome at two or three Marquis branches was pretty awful and offputting.
We moved north and when changing motorhomes went to the Preston branch of Marquis, which we found to be a breath of fresh air. We have had a major problem and I dealt directly with AS and found them accommodating and reasonable - and trust me, I'm no pushover! Throughout, the sales team have been efficient, prompt, thoughtful and respectful.
My experience of the workshop side at Preston is not as good, but having just had its first year habitation service which found a few issues, every single one of the warranty repairs has been agreed by AS, and the work will be done early in the New Year. I can only report after that on how the workshop performs.
No, I don't have any links to the company. All I'm saying (as I said at #5 above), is that you have to take Marquis branch by branch - some good, some awful.
