Re: Another mystery wire
Looks like it isolates something usually powered. Interior lights/TV perhaps ?
Switch everything on, operate switch, see what changes?

It looks as if it is interrupting a purple wire, so look at the wiring diagram for your Sargent unit and see what items are wired using purple. It may narrow the choice!
Strictly from memory the step auto retract on my EC700 included a purple wire, but there may be other circuits wired in purple and my wiring did not all correspond in colour coding to the diagram, and models might vary.

Re: Another mystery wire
It's obviously been added by a previous owner and was not like that from the factory. If I had to guess, I would say that it ~probably~ interrupts the signal from one of the waste tank sensors, but that's just a guess as the photo does not show enough detail.
If you can say which wire on which connector it has been inserted in, someone here should be able to say which circuit it's intended to switch.

Re: Another mystery wire
Both photos of connections are of EC328's. There is a difference in the location of the solar connector and the colour of wires.
The output wiring diagram is from the installation instructions when the system is bought direct from Sargent, no guarantee that AS used that configuration.
As, try all the 12v devices with the switch on and off till you find the one affected. I'd be interested to know?

Re: Another mystery wire
Thanks for all your support on this, I’ve had all 12v things on all at once turned toggle switch off and had no effect on anything, one thing I will say, previous owner disconnected the fresh water hose from the filling point and connected a hose lock connector to the pipe so you can fill the freshwater from a hose in reverse, when full water comes out of the original filler point, don’t know if the pump filler point has anything to do with it. Don’t know

Re: Another mystery wire
As I said earlier, you simply need to identify which connector the affected wire is on (to me it looks like the 10-way connector), and which terminal number (not possible to see in the photo). If you identify that then one of us can tell you what function you can expect to be affected.

Re: Another mystery wire
Whichever way you count that has to be pin 8 that the diagram suggests is the toilet pump via fuse 12?

Agreed - I was missing the fact that it's a 15-way (3 x 5) connector, not the 10-way (which is completely the wrong shape). As you say, should be the toilet pump circuit.

What and where is the toilet pump and is this different to the flush ?

And why would someone attach an isolation toggle switch to this ?

No, it is the flush pump.

If the flush button failed so that it was permanently on and you didn't want to replace that switch.

Re: Another mystery wire
Am I remembering correctly that some toilet pumps/switches suffer from electrolytic corrosion because they live in a place that's always damp? If so, another reason ~might~ have been to try to protect those parts and make them last a bit longer? Only the person that fitted it will know for sure!

So if the toggle switch is in the off position the flush shouldn’t work, am I right in thinking that ?

Flush still works if the toggle switch is on or off so it’s still a mystery. Thanks for all your help

The first owner of this van owned CCH caravan and motorhome repairs in Chipping Norton, someone might know the owner who had this toggle switch fitted

If everything works then why worry too much? Leave it off and eventually you may find out what is not working.
